From the Pastor:

Parish Announcements! It is very important that every member of our Parish family knows all the programs, events and opportunities that are offered here. We make every effort to keep you well informed on Parish happenings, but perhaps the conclusion of Sunday Mass is not always the best way. We are very pleased with the number of parishioners who have downloaded the St. Peter Chanel mobile app. With the addition of the app, we now have at least four regular avenues to share all the parish information with you without making weekly announcements at the end of Mass. We have the St. Peter Chanel website, the Parish bulletin, the Parish TV Monitors, and the mobile app. Beginning Sunday, January 8th, we will discontinue regular Mass Announcements. There may be a special situation that calls for information to be shared at Mass, but we hope to discontinue the regular practice. This makes it very important for you to check your SPC Mobile App regularly to stay informed and to take a bulletin home with you on Sunday. As part of this change, we will move any parish second collections to take place immediately following the regular Offertory collection. The ushers will pass the basket, as they do now, collecting your regular Offertory donation in support of the Parish. This first basket will be followed immediately, when there is a Second Collection, by a second basket. This second basket will be well marked, so that you will be able to clearly place your donation in the correct basket. Some weeks there will only be one basket, when there is no Second Collection. In fact, the first time we will have an opportunity to test this new system will be the weekend of January 22nd. We look forward to streamlining this process and I thank you in advance for your patience.

Amen.

If you will be away for Christmas, know that you travel with my prayers for a happy and safe trip. Our parish depends heavily on our Christmas collection and if you will be away, you might want to use the on-line giving ability we have available on our parish website. Knowing the people of St. Peter Chanel, I can confidently thank you in advance for your generosity and support.

Previously Baptized Adults Are Welcomed (left to right): Tony Sinoyiannis, Kevin Quick, Penny Myers, Laurie Henger, Kari Halverson, Ray Fountain, Tina Fountain, Kimmie Heiser, Christina Klejka, Chris Nye and Myra Robinson.

On November 13th, at the 9:00 am Mass, eleven adults journeying in RCIA, Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, participated in the Rite of Welcoming. This celebration was an opportunity for them to come before the St. Peter Chanel community to state their intention to become Catholic, or complete their Catholic sacraments. Signs of Christ’s presence were revealed in many ways: the people gathered, the prayers shared and the signs made visible. They are already one with us by their baptism. Hence, the Church embraces them as our brothers and sisters in Christ. At the conclusion of the rite, candidates were joyfully received by the St. Peter Chanel community and returned to their seats. After participating in the Liturgy of the Word, candidates who are preparing to receive the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist were sent forth to reflect more deeply on the Gospel message. They will continue this practice at the 9:00 am Mass each week, in anticipation of the day they will join us as full members of the Catholic Church. The support of the community is very important at each step in this process. Please keep them in your prayers and welcome them to our family.
