3 AMERICAN SPORT ART MUSEUM & ARCHIVES Sport Sculpture Park Unveils New Sculptures The Academy announced the unveiling of their newest sculp- tures by the 2009 Sport Artist of the Year and local “found object” artist, Mr. Bruce Larsen. The latest additions, “The Cyclist” and “The Swimmer,” were unveiled this year in the Academy’s Sport Sculpture Park, one of the largest sport sculp- ture parks in the world, located on the campus in Daphne, Ala. “The Cyclist” was the larg- est sculpture in the nearly 2,000 piece collection of the American Sport Art Museum and Archives (ASAMA). The first piece of the “The Cyclist” sculpture was 12 feet tall and by Bruce Larsen depicted an old-style cyclist. It was unveiled by Mr. Robert Campbell III, Esq., the Chairman of the Academy’s Board of Trustees and an attorney in Mobile, Ala. The second piece, a Paralympian cyclist, was unveiled by Ms. Nancy Raia, the Community Arts Director at the Eastern Shore Art Center and Chairperson of the Academy’s Art Committee. Thirdly, Mr. Dane Haygood, the Mayor of Daphne, unveiled the final piece depicting an Olympian. Dr. Thomas P. Rosandich, President and CEO of the Academy, and the art- ist, Bruce Larsen, presented the plaque dedicating the 24-foot sculpture. Recently, the latest sculpture, “The Swimmer” was unveiled. ART DONATIONS

Thanks to Lorrie and Richard Greene, the American Sport Art Museum and Archives (ASAMA) started a new Olympic collection. The San Francisco couple donated 59 valuable copies of official Olympic Reports and other publications dating back to 1896, a complete collection of art from the 1984 and several sport sculptures that sparked ASAMA’s new collection. 15 INTERNATIONAL OUTREACH Academy Hosts Sports Training For Shanghai Mentorship Program This year, the Chinese Sport Authority chose 100 of its most elite athletes and Olympians, who have recently retired and are between the ages of 25-30 and put them into a special training program with one of their sport universities for a period of 10 months. At the end of those 10 months, 20 of the best students were sent to the United States Sports Academy’s campus in Daphne, Ala., for two months of special sports training in November 2014. Academy Mourns Loss of National Faculty Member Dr. Timothy Henrich, a former national faculty member of the United States Sports Academy passed away suddenly while in Southern California.
