Other useful information As the University of Groningen is a decentralised organisation, please check the website of the faculty of your choice at all times (www.rug.nl -> faculties). Each faculty website provides detailed information on practical and on study-related matters for international (degree and non-degree) students, which may differ a little at each faculty / department (as e.g. the academic calendar, application deadlines (for degree seeking students in various international Master programmes), examination periods, language requirements etc.

Students seeking a Master’s degree Please bear in mind that only a limited number of candidates can be admitted to the Master’s degree programmes. If you apply, make sure your application holds all the necessary documents and your prior education matches the Master programme you apply to (see entry requirements).

Exchange students Exchange students can be accepted in Bachelor programmes, in most Master programmes and in most PhD programmes. In most cases PhD applications of at least 18 months are preferred. NO exchange students can be admitted to the Research Master programmes, only to the “general” master programmes.

Visa and residence permit Once you are selected by the University of Groningen, you will receive a letter from our Mobility and Scholarship Desk (MSD) on all the next steps to be taken. You will also receive information from the faculty or at which you will be a student. One of the things you will need to do is to provide the University with all necessary documents that are needed to start the visa procedure. The University will apply for the visa (and residence permit at the same time) on your behalf. The costs for this will be pre-financed by the University. The visa costs (€300 for undergraduates and master, €350 for PhD and postdoc) will be reimbursed by the project. The costs for the residence permit will need to be covered by the JoinEUSEE grantee. Costs for the residence permit are €300 for undergraduate and master students, €350 for PhD and postdocs.
