Zoom session with Mike Procter, Thursday 18 March

"Here, as promised, are the details of Mike Procter’s Zoom session on Thursday.

The Society has teamed up with the Mike Procter Foundation and 'Sounds Like A Plan Events ' to bring to members a series of Zoom sessions with the great former South African and Gloucestershire all-rounder, Mike Procter .

Mike will be talking about his life in cricket starting with the playing years including his Test career, which ended prematurely with the international sporting ban on South Africa in the early 1970s; his time at Gloucestershire from 1965 onwards including his first class debut against the touring South African side; his six centuries in consecutive innings in 1970; the players’ walk off at Newlands in 1971 in protest against the refusal of the South African Government to allow two non- white players to be selected for a tour of Australia; and many other aspects of those early days.

Mike will be joined in the first session by his great friend and fellow plunderer of attacks – .

The first event will be held on Thursday 18 March at 12noon (UK time) and 2pm (South African time).

There will be no charge to attend this event. Instead, Mike invites attendees to contribute what they can to the Mike Procter Foundation, to continue the work he is doing to bring cricket and sport to a primary school in a township on the outskirts of .
