SOCIAL COMMITTEE REPORT

GAMES AFTERNOON: On Wednesday, January 27th, 20 PROBUS Club of Presqu’ile members gathered for an afternoon of fun and friendly competition at the first Games Afternoon put on by the club. Fred Smith and his much better half Wanda put a lot of planning and preparation into the event and it showed. The afternoon went very smoothly as they had things well organized and prepared; lots of laughter and friendly teasing ensued as teams of two competed with each other and rotated through a series of games. In the end, everyone went home with a prize and a better idea of who to watch out for next time! LUNCH BUNCH: Following the January 20th Monthly General Meeting, the Lunch Bunch Group descended upon the “Mandarin Garden Restaurant” for yet another social gathering. FROM THE EDITOR

Hello Folks, This month I am using this opportunity to convey messages of interest provided by members of your PROBUS Management Team.

Financial Reports Chris Penhall -Treasurer, would like to share the following information with you. “As we have welcomed some new members to our Club since September, and because of a question posed to me recently, I would like to share some information regarding the timing of financial reports to the membership. Although the membership year runs from September 1 - August 31, our fiscal year runs from August 1 - July 31. This timing is necessary in order to complete the budget process, arrange for the review of the books, and create the year end financial statement - all of which get presented to the Management Committee prior to the September AGM. As required by our Constitution, all Club members will receive the year end financial statement and the results of the financial review prior to the September AGM. As always, if you have any questions, please call me or catch me at a meeting”. Chris.

REMINDER: In the December & January Newsletters the possibility of establishing a driver service for those people who have difficulty getting to and from the monthly meetings was brought to the membership’s attention. The January’s Newsletter specifically requested that interested parties for such a service make themselves known to either Dot Worobetz (President) or David Crouch (Vice President). Whether this request was missed or just maybe members were on vacation, neither Dot nor David have been contacted. Rather than concluding that there is zero interest in establishing this service, I have been requested to once again bring this item to your attention, so please do not let this slip by if there is an interested party that would benefit from this service? Phone numbers and email addresses can be found on page 1 of this Newsletter. That’s all folks … See you all at the February 17th General Meeting. Don .. Newsletter Editor
