When I had such a witnessing, it was a pivotal event in my life. In Subud, both national and world congresses anything is possible. For that reason while I am still here with are essential. Besides needing them for the development you, I ask this of you: if you are truly Subud members, then of Subud locally, the development of Subud in the world is respect and follow Bapak’s advice. At a congress, people who wish to devote in Subud, the fault does not lie with Subud; the problem is themselves to God through the latihan come together. simply that many in Subud are still not able yet to position themselves correctly and in consequence cannot yet tell the Before leaving us, Bapak set out the guidelines for what we difference between receiving that comes from our drives and need to do as we propagate and develop Subud in a way that desires and that comes from God’s will. SICA - It’s more than art

The World Congress is a time for members from around the world to be together in a harmonious atmosphere. The Congress is also a time for delegates to get to work.

SICA events have always been a highlight of our World Congress’ and Puebla is no exception. Subud film makers, peace builders, musician, poets, writers, puppeteers, actors and artists alike will be coming to Puebla to perform and share their talents.

Bapak hoped that through SICA, Subud members who had a talent in a particular field would create something truly new or different, something that would touch other people, meaning people who are not in Subud, people outside Subud. Bapak always advised SICA to embrace a very broad definition of culture as culture is not just about the arts. “The arts can show the way,” he said, “but culture includes all aspects of human endeavor.” We hope these congress events will reflect Bapak’s advice.

for meals and care. The grounds have a space that is perfect for a vegetable and fruit garden and the center has a target population that will benefit enormously from our intervention. We have already planted five fruit trees and some vegetables and herbs in a November visit, but we have a very large area to cultivate still.

The Casa Cuna has a very large number of volunteers who help it to run. In November I worked with around 30 youth who in turn supervised and helped the little children to do the initial planting. We provide garden development and gardening education activities that older youth can do with small children to enhance all aspects of their education. We provide education that can be shared within Casa Cuna with each new group of children.

We also invite Subud members to bring picture books suitable for young children (without words or in Spanish) to help enrich the learning environment for the children.

01. Muhammad Subuh Foundation

The Foundation warmly welcomes Judy Gibb to the MSF team. Judy will be serving as secretary.

Judy’s interest in languages will surely benefit the Foundation. She studied in Paris for two years and later lived in Tokyo, Japan with her husband Darragh Giles (later Rukman). Rukman was one of the first Subud members opened by Bapak in Auckland in March, 1959.

It wasn’t until February, 1970, after the birth of her third (of four) children, that Judy experienced a wish to be opened, fortunately not long before Bapak made his last visit to New Zealand.

Judy says she has been interested in the work of the Muhammad Subuh Foundation for many years.

“My personal interest and involvement with MSF dates from the WSA meeting at Ascot when, together with Asmaniah Fraval, in our capacity as International Helpers, we were privileged to take part in some very special testing with the trustees of MSF. We felt very strongly the vital importance of MSF, as the ‘engine- room’ of the Subud organisation, an absolutely unforgettable experience. In subsequent years I have been privileged to visit a number of Subud centres, and to be present at several meetings around the world, and my respect for the trustees, and appreciation of the value of their work is profound. So, if there is any way in which I can assist the work of the Foundation, I am happy to do my best,”.

Experience YES Quest in Mexico! “For me it’s simple, without attending the YES Quest there is no way I would have reached a point in my life where I am doing the creative work I love. I believe that the YES Quest is the ideal vehicle for helping us as Subud young people to get clear on who we are and to connect us with our inner resources to make it happen in our lives. Plus we have the added bonus of joining forces in helping to create an amazing World Congress at Mexico.” Roland Fraval SYAI rep

Yes Quest and SYAI are joining forces to offer young Subud people a fantastic opportunity to get clear on their life direction, meet other young people from around the world and use their skills and talents in creating a dynamic, youth friendly congress.

We want every young person in Subud to have the chance to attend if they choose.

In addition we have some wonderful funding available to support young people to be able to attend and the deadline for this is April 1st.

The YES Quest Mexico combines: a classic YES Quest experience (‘explore your true nature and potential and how you wish to bring it to life’) with the adventure of Congress (‘be part of a dynamic team of young people preparing creative and youth friendly activities for Congress’)

The Quest is in 3 parts: 1. Before Congress: Arrive July 26th and finish August 2nd. Stay at a youth hostel in Puebla. The program will focus on classic YES Quest activities + preparation of projects for Congress 2. During Congress: August 2 – 17th. Arrange own Congress registration, food and accommodation. The program will focus on carrying out the planned projects during Congress 3. After Congress: Arrive Aug 17th and depart Aug 21st. Stay at Usaha Ubadi Mulia The program will focus on an outdoor adventure + creating an action plan for the return home For more information go to: www.yesquest.org and download The cost is US$500 which will cover food, accommodation, adventure, the brochure or email info@ internal transport and Quest program (not including during Congress) yesquest.org for an application. As an add-on to this YES Quest we will also be training up some people from around the world as YES Quest facilitators. It is our intention that these trainees will be able to return home and provide shorter YES Quest experiences for youth from their region/country. 11 WORLD SUBUD ASSOCIATION Into Africa: IH Visit to Subud Nigeria “ An international helper cannot limit himself to his own nationality but must be able to embrace wherever he happens to be, including what is outside of his own country.” Bapak Muhammad Subuh, July, 1984, Jakarta, Indonesia

His visit to Spanish groups, Madrid and Orgiva proved to be ‘a wonderful awakening’.

Luqman is pleased to be able to visit groups in Africa and he plans to visit new members in Malawi, moving on to RD Congo and South Africa and before returning home to Vancouver via the UK in early March, fitting in a visit to the SD Europe meeting in Portugal.
