Alex Wyatt is a New York based drummer, composer, and all-around musician. Hailing from Littleton, Colorado, he got his start playing around Denver as a teenager, and studying under local great Paul Romaine. He moved to New York in 2001 to study at the New School for Jazz, and has since garnered attention for his musicianship. Since earning a B.F.A. in 2005, Alex has performed live or recorded with jazz artists , , Jon Irabagon, Yeahwon Shin, Massimo Biolcati, , Greg Ruggiero, Frank Locrasto, Logan Richardson, Nir Felder, and Curtis MacDonald, among others, and with pop artists such as My Cousin, The Emperor, WYATT, Jason Liebman, Lauren Molina, and Blake Whyte. Alex’s new recording, entitled There's Always Something, is his first album as bandleader and composer. It features nine original compositions, and a sextet of his closest musical colleagues, some of New York’s finest up-and-coming jazz instrumentalists: tenor saxophonist Kyle Wilson, alto and soprano saxophonist Masahiro Yamamoto, pianist Danny Fox, guitarist Greg Ruggiero, and bassist Chris Tordini. All of these gentlemen are recognized performers and composers in their own right.

BAND MEMBER BIOS:

Danny Fox: Pianist/composer Danny Fox was born in New York City where he became immersed in the jazz scene from an early age. In high school, Danny was selected as a Presidential Scholar in the Arts and performed at a ceremony for President Clinton. Danny received his B.A in Psychology cum laude from Harvard University, where he put out two CDs of original music and was awarded the John McCord Prize for excellence in the arts. Since moving back to New York, he has studied with concert pianist John Kamitsuka, performing repertoire including Beethoven, Scriabin, and Prokofiev, as well as jazz pianist . Danny leads the the Danny Fox Trio which recently released its debut album "The One Constant" (Songlines Recordings). Danny has toured with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, the Big Apple Circus, and the Max Weinberg Big Band, with which he performed alongside Bruce Springsteen. Comfortable in a wide variety of settings, Danny has worked as the accompanist for Catherine Gallant Dance, the musical director of the live comedy show “Toast of Manhattan,” and has performed for various theater and burlesque productions. He has also composed music for film and TV.

Greg Ruggiero: Greg Ruggiero has resided in Brooklyn, New York since 2004. In May 2007, Greg’s debut record as a leader “Balance” was released on the jazz record label Fresh Sound New Talent. As a side man, Greg has recorded on vocalist, Luisa Sobral’s debut record, on Universal/Portugal records, saxophonist Logan Richardson’s “ Ethos” for Greg Osby’s Inner Circle Records, two upcoming releases on Free Code Jazz Records, Drummer Nick Halley’s “Barnum Hill”, Kokyu’s self titled release, bassist Gavin Fallow’s self titled debut, and several recently recorded albums still in production. In 2010, Greg had a wonderful experience as the featured artist at the Canjazz Festival in Galicia, Spain; teaching a week of workshops, recording two records, and performing in concert. Ruggiero is on the New School University Applied Music teaching roster and in 2009 taught at the Academy of Creative Education in Los Angeles, California. He was a 2004 guest artist and clinician at the Crossties Jazz Festival hosted by Delta State University in Greenville, Mississippi along with Mulgrew Miller. In 2005, Ruggiero was honored to take part in the Jazz of Enchantment radio program and educational series as one of the top 20 Jazz artists associated with his home state of New Mexico, including such artists as Frank Morgan, Bobby Shew and fellow colleagues Rob Wilkerson(Michael Buble) and Matt Brewer (Gonzalo Rubalcaba). Greg has performed with , , Greg Osby, Matt Brewer, Logan Richardson, and many others, as well as leading his own trio and quartet. Greg is about to release his latest record “My little One”, a collection of original music set to lyrics.

Kyle Wilson: Kyle was born and raised in Houston, TX. He started playing the saxophone when he was 14. He studied with local legend Bob Price, and was accepted to The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in 1999. It was here that he cultivated the foundations of the music he plays today. It was also where he was exposed to life as a professional musician, playing in the Texas All-State Jazz Ensemble and having the opportunity of touring in China and Taiwan. After graduating from HSPVA, Kyle received a scholarship to New School University in New York City and graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Jazz Performance in 2007. Kyle has been fortunate enough to have studied or performed with , Donny McCaslin, Greg Tardy, Ben Street, Rodney Green, Corey King, and Ben Van Gelder, among others. He currently resides in Brooklyn, NY and can be seen playing in venues such as Smalls, Jazz Gallery, 55 Bar, and La Lanterna.

Christopher Tordini: Christopher Tordini has become an in-demand bassist in the NYC jazz and creative music scene. He graduated from the New School University Jazz and Contemporary Music program in 2006, and he has been playing professionally ever since. Christopher is able to quickly adapt to virtually any musical situation, making him a well rounded player who is sought after by many fellow musicians.Currently Christopher is involved in many various projects. These projects include Andy Milne's Dapp Theory, the Becca Stevens Band, the Ari Hoenig quartet, Logan Richardson's "Shift", and the Jean-Michel Pilc trio/quartet, to name only a few. Christopher's performances are mostly concentrated in NYC, with occasional engagements that take him all over North America and Europe.
