Rich Beem Wins PGA Championship Using Callaway Golf's CTU 30 Ball; Callaway Golf Leads All Manufacturers With Five Major Championship Golf Ball Victories in 2002 August 19, 2002 CARLSBAD, Calif., Aug 19, 2002 (BW SportsWire) -- Callaway Golf Company (NYSE: ELY) emerged as the 2002 major championship winner among golf ball manufacturers yesterday as Rich Beem scored a dramatic victory at the PGA Championship using the CTU 30(R) golf ball. Beem's thrilling one-stroke win over Tiger Woods at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn., marked the fifth major championship won in 2002 by a player using Callaway Golf(R) balls. No other ball manufacturer compiled more than three victories in the 12 major championships contested across the PGA, Senior PGA and LPGA tours this year. Callaway Golf is also the only ball manufacturer to record major championship wins on each of those three tours in 2002. Beem, a Callaway Golf Ball Staff Professional, was one of five golfers to post a top-10 finish at the PGA Championship using golf balls made by Callaway Golf. Callaway Golf Ball Staff Professionals Fred Funk and Mark Calcavecchia finished fourth and seventh, respectively, using the HX(R) Red golf ball. Callaway Golf Staff Professionals Rocco Mediate and Pierre Fulke joined Funk and Calcavecchia in the top 10. Mediate used the CTU 30 Red golf ball, while Fulke finished tied for 10th using the CTU 30 Blue golf ball. Callaway Golf balls have now been used to win four times on the PGA Tour this season, and 39 times overall across the PGA, Senior PGA, LPGA, Buy.com, PGA European and Japan Golf tours combined. -

Rocco Mediate Battles Tiger Woods over 91 Holes at U.S. Open PGA Tour Veteran and Callaway Golf Staff Professional Forces Sudden-Death After 18 Hole Playoff at Torrey Pines CARLSBAD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 17, 2008--Callaway Golf Staff Professional Rocco Mediate gave Tiger Woods a run for his money as the two battled it out during an 18-hole playoff, as well as a single sudden-death hole for the 108th U.S. Open Championship. The veteran, Mediate, went punch for punch with the world's No. 1 golfer throughout the five days of tournament play, but came up one stroke short at the Par-4 7th hole in sudden-death finish at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego. "I threw everything I had, the kitchen sink, everything right at him," Mediate said. "I'm disappointed that I didn't win, but very happy with how I performed. This is the best golf I've ever played. It showed me I can still compete and I want to compete. I came up just a touch short." FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Two-Time U.S. Open Winner Retief Goosen To Make PGA TOUR Champions Debut At Oasis Championship BOCA RATON, Florida – Retief Goosen always had a sense of good timing. His ability to produce clutch shots at key moments helped him win a pair of U.S. Opens and earn induction into this year’s World Golf Hall of Fame class. Goosen also is fortunate he turns 50 on Sunday, just in time for the South African to become eligible for the PGA TOUR Champions’ first full-field event. Goosen will make his debut at next week’s Oasis Championship at The Old Course at Broken Sound. “I know I’m going to have a blast,” Goosen said. “I’ve been thinking about playing on this tour for a long time.” The Oasis Championship also received commitments from former British Open champions Darren Clarke and Tom Lehman, who won the PGA TOUR Champions’ season-opening event in Hawaii for his 12th career win on the 50-and-older circuit. Lehman won the 1996 British Open and captured the 2011 Oasis Championship at Broken Sound. Goosen has won 33 worldwide events – seven on the PGA TOUR -- and spent more than 260 weeks in the top 100 in the world rankings from 2001-07, reaching as high as No. 3 in 2006. He played in six Presidents Cup competitions for the International Team and would have won more had he not battled chronic back problems that are a thing of the past. Greg Norman Announces Final Field For 17th Annual Franklin Templeton Shootout NAPLES, Fla. (September 19, 2005) – Greg Norman announced today that the 24 - player field is completed for the Franklin Templeton Shootout, which returns to Naples for the fifth consecutive year November 9 -13. Added today were Swedish sensations Jesper Parnevik and Fredrik Jacobson . Parnevik is a five -time winner on the PGA TOUR and has won nine more titles around the globe. He has participated in three Ryder Cup matches f or the European Team and will make his second Shootout appearance. Jacobson has three European Tour titles, all of which came in 2003. During a six -year span on that Tour, he collected six runner -up finishes and 16 top -10s. Also in 2003, he finished among the top six at both the U.S. and British Opens. This will be Jacobson’s first Franklin Templeton Shootout. He joins Tim Herron and Ian Poulter as newcomers. With the addition of Parnevik and Jacobson (Sweden), the 24 -player field now has a distinct inter national flavor with seven participants representing four countries: Norman, Adam Scott and Steve Elkington (Australia), Nick Price (South Africa) and Poulter (England).
