KANSAS DeShawn Stevenson - 6-5, 210, Fresno, Calif. (Washington Union HS) - Stevenson is considered one of the nation's top high school basketball players. As a junior, Stevenson led Union to the state championship while averaging 24 points and sevenre- bounds per game. Last summer, Stevenson's stock soared after standout performances at the Adidas ABCD camp.

Listed as an Honorable Mention All-American by Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook he averaged 17 points, 10 assists and six steals as a junior. An all-state selection as a junior, he has led Crenshaw to a 45-7 record as a starter.

Jason Robinson - G/F, 6-6, G/F, (Seward County [Kan.] CC) -- Robinson was a second team All-Jayhawk Conference selection as a freshman last season after averaging 16 points and 6.5 rebounds. He connected on 54 three-pointers and dished out 87as- sists in leading Seward to a 22-1 record last season.

MISSOURI Arthur Johnson - F, 6-9, Detroit, Mich. (Detroit Pershing HS) - Johnson is considered one of the top 30 national prospects by many recruiting services. He's one of the top big men in the country, and is coming off a season in which he averaged 16 points and 13 rebounds per game as a junior. He led his Pershing team to a top-five ranking in the state last year, and earned all-state honors.

Rickey Paulding - G, 6-5, Detroit, Mich. (Renaissance HS) -- Paulding considered one of the nation's top 30 prep prospects, and has been selected to the pre-season all-American team by Street & Smith Magazine. He averaged 25.6 points, 11.2re- bounds, four assists and three blocked shots per game last season at Renaissance High, and was selected to 's all-state team in 1999. His point total led the extremely competitive Detroit Public school League last year. In addition to his success on the court, Paulding has enjoyed much success in the classroom as well, having fully met NCAA standards, and boasting an exceptional academic record at one of the countries' top academic high schools.

Wesley Stokes - G, 5-10, Long Beach, Calif. (Long Beach Poly HS) - Stokes is considered the top-rated point guard prospect in the West, and is a top-50 national recruit. Stokes averaged 16 points, eight assists and four steals per game last year as a junior, and garnered much attention after some superb play in various summer all-star camps. Long Beach Poly was 24-7 record last season advancing to the quarterfinals of the Southern Regionals. Long Beach Poly is the pre-season favorite to win the Southern

NEBRASKA Eddie Baker - 6-6, G/F, Jacksonville, Fla. (Jean Ribault HS) -- Baker is a swingman who earned all-state honors last season for Coach Bernard Wilkes at Ribault High School. Ribault plays in the third-largest of 's six high school classes. Baker averaged better than 16 points per game last season and also grabbed seven rebounds and handed out three assists per contest. Ribault finished the 1998-99 season with a 24-5 record.

OKLAHOMA Johnnie Gilbert - F, 6-7, 220, Minneapolis, Minn. (Patrick Henry HS) -- A third-team All-State performer last year at Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis, Gilbert averaged 14.5 points, 14.3 rebounds and 6.0 blocked shots per outing while leading his squad to a 21-4 record and an appearance in the state championship quarterfinals. This preseason, Patrick Henry is ranked No. 1 in 's 4A class. Gilbert is regarded as one of the top 100 high school seniors in the country. Gibbons rates him as the nation's 88th-best senior.

Aaron McGhee - F, 6-8, 250, Aurora, Ill. (Vincennes [Ind.] JC) -- McGhee was regarded as one of the 50 best players in the nation his senior year at Aurora East High School where he was a two-time All-State selection. As a senior, he earnedhonor- able mention All-America honors from USA Today and The Sporting News after averaging 25.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.9 blocked shots and 2.3 steals per game. He guided East to a 24-3 record that year and went on to earn MVP honors in the Basketball Coaches Association state all-star game. He originally signed with Cincinnati and sat out the 1997-98sea- son. Last year with the Bearcats, McGhee played in 30 games and averaged 2.8 points and 1.9 rebounds in 8.1 minutes per contest. Against Southern , the forward scored a career-high 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Gibbonscon- siders him to be one of the country's top 15 junior college players.

Gibbons rates him among the 35 best junior college players in thecoun- try.

James Wright -- F, 6-6, 210, Milwaukee, Wis. (The Winchendon [Mass.] School) Wright is the Wisconsin state record holder in the high jump. He averaged 10.0 points, 13.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocked shots as a senior last year at Vincent High School in Milwaukee. He has experienced success at the high school level, helping his teams to state titles as a freshman, sophomore and junior, and a four-year 97-10 record. Following his junior season, Vincent was ranked seventh nationally by Street & Smith's and ninth nationally by USA Today. This year, Wright is attending The Winchendon School, a prep school in Winchendon, Mass. According to Gibbons, he is one of the 10 best post-graduate prep players in the country.

OKLAHOMA STATE David Anderson - F, 6-7, 200, Chatham, Va. (Hargrave Military Academy) -- Anderson averaged 18 points for Hargrave as a junior. A native of Levittown, Puerto Rico, who moved to the U.S. in summer 1998, he was a co-winner of the slam dunk award at the NBA Players Association Camp in Princeton, N.J., last summer. Anderson will play with the Puerto Rican national team in summer 2000.

Terrence Crawford - F, 6-6, 205, Oklahoma City, Okla. (McGuinness) -- Crawford averaged close to 18 points and 10re- bounds and 4.7 assists per game as a junior last season. As a senior, he will try to guide McGuinness to a third straight Class 4A state basketball championship. Crawford is rated by Midwest Basketball as the state's top player and a top-60 prospectna- tionally.

Bernard Kidd - G, 6-5, 190, Dallas, Texas (James Madison) -- Kidd is rated by some publications as the top in Texas. As a junior, he helped lead his team to a 29-5 record, averaging 14.8 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game, earning All-4A District 13 honors. Also a high jumper on his high school track team, Kidd is coached in basketball by hisfa- ther, Ellis Sr.

Jack Marlow - C, 6-11, 285, Tulsa, Okla. (Union) -- Marlow, who committed to the OSU program as a junior, is a 6-11 Tulsa native currently attending Union HS. He averaged 18.1 points and 10.0 rebounds last season for Union last season, helping lead the Redskins to a 22-4 record and a state quarterfinal appearance.

Ivan McFarlin - F, 6-7, 210, Sugar Land, Texas (Willow Ridge) -- McFarlin is a top-40 recruit. He averaged 15 points and 12 rebounds per game as a junior for a Willow Ridge team that went 33-3 last season. A long-armed, active player, McFarlin is also a strong student, boasting a GPA well above 3.0.

TEXAS Brian Boddicker -- F, 6-9, 225; Duncanville, Texas - Boddicker ranked as the 18th-best high school prospect in the nation by Bob Gibbons' All Star Report...ranked as the top high school prospect in the state of Texas by Mike Kunstadt's Texas Hoops...averaged 19.9 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game as a junior, leading his team to a 35-3 overall record and the class 5A state title...named class 5A state tournament MVP...first-team TABC all-State selection...played at the prestigious adidas ABCD camp in Teaneck, N.J. this summer...former high school teammate of current UT forwardChris Owens and guard Roosevelt Brown.

TEXAS A&M Nick Anderson - F, 6-7, Baton Rouge, La. (Southern Lab University HS) - Anderson, ranked as the 18th best prospect in the country by The Sporting News, is one of the highest rated national recruits in A&M history. Last season as a junior, heaver- aged 23 points, 12 rebounds and five blocked shots per game and earned first-team all-state honors. He is ranked among the top 40 national recruits by almost every recruiting service and is rated as the top guard/forward in the South by Regional Basketball Report. Anderson also played in the USA Basketball Youth Development Festival in Colorado Springs and averaged 16.3 points and 9.8 rebounds for the South team that won the championship. Fastbreak Recruiting ranks Anderson No. 32. Anderson is the high school teammate of Trayvean Scott.

Nolan Butterfras -- 6-10, 235, Houston, Texas (Cypress Creek HS) - Butterfras is rated No. 86 on Recruiting Beat's list of the nation's top 100 prospects. As a junior last season, he averaged 14.2 points and 8.1 rebounds with a high scoring game of 27 points.

Trayvean Scott - G, 6-1, Baton Rouge, La. (Southern Lab University HS) - Scott is ranked among the top 45 high school prospects and top seven point guards in the South by Regional Basketball Report and has been ranked among the top 100play- ers nationally by Bob Gibbons' All-Star Sports. He averaged 16.7 points and 7.0 assists per game last year and earned honorable mention all-state honors. Scott is the high school teammate of Nick Anderson.

TEXAS TECH Jamal Brown -- 6-0, 178, Dallas, Texas (Skyline HS/Fort Scott [Kan.] CC) -- Brown is in his first season at Fort Scott (Kan.) CC after playing for a season at Meridian College in Mississippi. He averaged 12 points and seven assists per game at MC and helped lead the team to a fourth-place finish at the national junior college tournament last spring. As a high school senior at Dallas Skyline averaged 25 points and 10 assists per game to earn all-state honors in 1998.

Marcus Shropshire - G, 6-1, 195, Grand Prairie, Texas (South Grand Prairie HS) -- Shropshire enters this season as the No.1 rated senior point guard in the state and fifth-rated player overall, according to recruiting guru Mike Kunstadt. Shropshireaver- aged 13 points and seven assists per game as a junior and earned all-region and first-team All-District 5-5A honors.
