PRINTED DY U N'IVERSITY OF KANSAS PRINTING SER VICE LAWRENCE, KANSAS . CATALOGUE OF PUBLICATIONS If IN MAMMALOGY. PUBLISHED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY By 1 ROBERT s. HoFFMANN ti f The first publications of the Museum of Natural History appeared in 1946. Since that time five "series" have been associated with the Museum. The first of these -The University of Kansas Publications, Museum of Natural History ( commonly referred to as the "Museum Series") - commenced with Volume 1 in 1946 and terminated with Volume 20 in 1971. The "Museum Series" was replaced by the Occasional Papers of the Museum of Natural History, the first num- ber of which appeared in 1971. The format of the Occasional Papers is designed for publications usually less than 64 printed pages in length. Since 1971, the Miscellaneous Publications of the Museum of Natural History usually have been longer papers, but earlier numbers were of variable format; Number 1 was published in 1946. The Monograph series was initiated in 1970, the Public Education Series in 197 4, and the Special Publication Series in 1976 . . The catalogue provided herein is a complete bibliography of titles relating to mammalogy published since 1946 by the Museum of Natural History. The contributions listed cover a broad spectrum; some titles are technical, whereas others are of more general interest. The catalogue is designed to provide a useful reference and to facili- tate the acquisition of mammalogical publications by interested persons. Publications are listed in approximate chronological order within each series in the catalogue. Each one is preceded by a serial num- ber composed of 1) the Museum Contribution Number, 2) an abbreviation of the publication and 3) the volume ( if applicable) and number. Thus, serial number "28-MS-1-1" is Museum Contri- bution Number 28 of the "Museum Series," Volume 1, Number 1. Abbreviations used throughout are as follows: MS ------Museum Series MP ------Miscellaneous Publications OC ______: _____ Occasional Papers
