T HE PRESIDENT’ S CORNER: THE NEW PRESIDEN’ T THOUGHTS ON THE STATE OF THE CHAPTER T ERIC GOFF KS01

Greetings and salutations! Eric Goff here, the latest president of the K- State chapter of Triangle. It has taken a while, but I feel I am getting a grip on all of my new responsibilities. I never realized the full extent of the president’s duties until I was thrown in headfirst! But I have adjusted, and I don’t think R having less time to vegetate in front of the TV is necessarily a bad thing. As for the chapter, I believe we are doing well, and some good things are happen- ing. We have two very promising new junior actives, Garrett Hooker and Jacob Powell. We have a lead on a new faculty advisor, which we have badly needed for some time now. We are attempting to bring Leadership Advantage to K-State. I feel this will be beneficial to us as a fraternity by getting our I name out there more and as a possible means of recruiting new young leaders, and also to the University as K-State has no equivalent program at the moment. Also, next semester, for the first time in recent memory, we will have several active members living together in a rented house. While this will not be an of- ficial chapter house, it will serve many other purposes. It will provide a venue for social gatherings, recruitment activities, meetings, and should be known as a place where all actives, pledges, prospective members, and alumni are wel- A come any time.

Even with all the good things that are happening, we still need to see the big picture. This semester and the next are critical for the chapter. We are losing two very valuable members to graduation in May, so some of the younger members will need to step up and fill their very large shoes. We have N to hit recruitment hard, while still finding time to fulfill the Purpose for our current members. With the manpower we have now, this figures to be a chal- lenge. I believe we are up to the challenge, but we will need help. As the chapter continues to develop and move in the right direction we will need more and better alumni support. I like to tell our prospective members that they will get as much out of Triangle as they are willing to put into it. I feel this also ap- G plies to our alumni in the sense that if they would like to see the chapter grow and prosper, then they need to get involved and help in any way they can. This could mean attending alumni meetings and Founders’ Formal, donating time or money (we will gladly accept either!!), sharing ideas and suggestions about how we can improve upon what we are doing, or any number of things. The point is, we need and want alumni to interact with us on a regular basis. L

Well, I didn’t mean to get off on a rant here, but it appears I have done just that! I apologize to anybody who is actually reading all of this! But to sum up: as you can see, we have a lot of things going for us, but there is still much to be done. E WILDCAT BANNER Page 3

OPEN HOUSE For the past several years, the Chapter has had a presence at T the K-State Open House. This year’s Open House is April 3rd, from 9 AM to 3PM. We are debating on whether a ta- ble in the Union, where we may get a better crowd, or a ta- ble in the Engineering building, where we can be visible more perspective members. R Once again, the Active organization would like to formally ask our Alumni for help. If a few Alumni would be willing to volunteer their Saturday, we would love to have you stand with us and share experiences. We would only ask for a few hours, not the whole day,. If you are interested, please let us know ([email protected]). I
