Healing Haitian Heels with Hats. Rock Port sixth grader Brianna Gutierrez plays her flute while wearing a multi-colored hat. Friday, March 12, the Rock Port High School chapter of National Honor Society sponsored a hat day in the elementary. For a $1 donation, elementary students could wear a hat for the day. In lieu of a dollar, students could donate a new pair of shoes or sandals. NHS will use the money collected to buy shoes for the Rotary Shoes for Orphan Soles project; this year’s donations will be sent to help earthquake victims in Haiti. Photo by Jordan Thomas. This week they also had a Cultural Experience (Hispanic chips and dip) day and made a Hispanic craft. During the quarter, students have learned basic polite expressions, classroom items, numbers, dates, time and weather this quarter.
