Eight Wins... Carolina has won eight games in four of the last five seasons. Prior to the 2012 season, the last time Caro- lina won eight games was in 2010 after beating Tennessee in the Music City Bowl in Nashville. Carolina also won eight regular season games in 2008 and 2009, but those wins were vacated due to NCAA penalty. Head coach Larry Fedora won more regular-season games (eight) than any first-year coach in school history. In 2001, John Bunting also won eight games, including a victory over Auburn in the Peach Bowl.

Francis played running back at Durham’s Hillside High School and rushed for more than 2,000 yards as a junior and senior. Prince was a highly-rated offensive lineman at Albemarle High School. Trubisky was named Mr. Football in the state of Ohio after throwing for more than 4,000 yards at Mentor High School. All four participated in UNC’s annual Spring Game.
