INTRODUCTION

AFL VICTORIA TAC CUP & AFL VICTORIA DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS GEELONG FALCONS:

With the expansion of the Victorian Football League to the Australian Football League, a junior structure known as the Victorian State Football League was established in 1992. Commencing with six Metropolitan based teams, including the Geelong Falcons, it was expanded to a twelve-team competition incorporating seven Metropolitan-based teams and five regional-based teams (Ballarat Rebels, Bendigo Pioneers, Geelong Falcons, Gippsland Power and Murray Bushrangers), before the addition of two Interstate based teams (NSW/ACT Rams and Tasmanian Tassie Mariners) in 1996 which took the competition to a 14-team structure. Since 2000, both the Northern Territory and Queensland have participated in the competition for two rounds with the TAC Cup expanding to a mini AFL structure and National competition. Since 2003, the NSW Rams and Tassie Mariners have reverted to a part-time development State involvement. 2009, witnessed the inclusion of the new AFL team, Gold Coast, into the TAC Cup as the club continued its transition to the VFL in 2010 and then AFL in 2011. This was repeated by the inclusion of Greater Western Sydney (GWS) in 2010. Note: As of 1997, the word ‘state’ was deleted from the Competition title and following a further name change in recent years, is now referred to as the “AFL Victoria - TAC Cup”. The Geelong Falcons, as a foundation team, was also the inaugural Premiers with victory in 1992 under the coaching of Terry Bright (who went on to coach with both Geelong Cats and Fremantle Dockers Football Clubs) and Paul Armstrong who was the original Falcons Regional Manager and also progressed to administration in AFL ranks, initially at Geelong, then with the and Richmond, and now with the AFL Coaches Association. As a successful U18 development program, AFL Victoria also requires a comprehensive support staff structure to ensure that it provides for all facets of football administration and development in this modern era. In this instance, the Geelong Falcons embodies a professional, elite youth football program with Michael Turner (formerly Geelong FC) as AFL Vic Talent Manager supported by a very experienced and dedicated support staff including coaches (head coach Andrew Allthorpe, and a range of specialist coaches including skills coaches, fitness coach, ruck coach, rehabilitation coach, weights coach, High Performance Manager, U15 & U16 squad coaches), medical personnel (doctor, physiotherapist, podiatrist, nutritionist), training staff (head trainer, support trainers, masseurs) and managers (team manager, property manager & player welfare manager). On match day additional support staff such as statisticians, Champion Data, interchange steward, time keeper, team runners (x2) and other general match day duty staff are required (approximately 35 personnel in all). Recruiting personnel are also engaged to seek new recruits and liaise with the catchment area clubs. In all, around 60 people are required to support the team and its annual program. As a pathway to the AFL draft, the Geelong Falcons represent the senior level of this program, beginning with zoned U15 squads (Hampden & Geelong U15’s x 2) and U16 squads (again in Hampden & Geelong) with programs through local interleague carnivals and clinics supported by a strong preseason program to capture a list of 50 players identified for a season’s program at the Falcons at TAC Cup level. In addition to the elite level of development and competition, an extensive junior development program is provided throughout the Geelong Falcons zone. AFL Auskick (over 4000 registrations), AFL Player Appearances (Primary & Secondary schools, Auskick Centres and Junior Clubs), AFL Auskick Rules & Grid Games, Primary School Lightning Premierships, Secondary School Competitions (MCC Herald-Sun Senior & SmokeFree Junior), Coaches Associations (approx. 550 members), Coach Education (Level One, Orientation and Awareness Coaching Courses), and Junior Club Development/Fostership Programs, Recreational Football, AFL 9s and Youth girls football are organised and promoted to include as many participants as possible in the foundation plan of the football development program across the zoned area – ranging from Lara to Terang; the Hamilton Highway to the Surf Coast! Football development in the Geelong Falcons zone is very comprehensive and coordinated and the zone is proud of its achievements over the past 23 years. The Geelong Falcons are VERY proud of the fact that our program is rated by the AFL as the #1 club/Academy program in Australia on three fronts:  Most players drafted: 100+.  Percentage of players drafted who actually play AFL: Average 50% with Geelong Falcons at 80%.  Awards and honours won by our former players: Brownlow Medalists (x3), All Australians, AFL captains (x7), Premiership players and Best & Fairest winners. “BE PROUD TO BE A FALCON” GEELONG FALCONS’ TALENT MANAGER’S REPORT 2014

The AFL Victoria TAC Cup competition has been in existence since 1992 and has developed a reputation as the best junior sporting structure in Australia. The twelve AFL Victoria Academy programs are well resourced by AFL Victoria with each of the regions given a similar budget to conduct the talented player pathway. The TAC Cup has 12 teams / regions which play in the state competition with the developing states of NSW/ACT, Qld, Tasmania and the Northern Territory playing a series of games to prepare their squads for the AFL U18 National Championships. This competition is a mini AFL competition for elite footballers in Victoria and Australia to have access to a well-structured and professionally managed academy development program. Season 2014 saw the Geelong Falcons finish 3rd on the ladder, play in the qualifying final which we lost by one point against the eventual Premiers, Oakleigh Chargers. Week 2 saw us eliminated from the finals by the Dandenong Stingrays, but we were very happy with the season and especially the development of our players. Our team objectives each year are to make the finals; get players drafted to the AFL or develop on to VFL clubs, and to help all our squad players reach their full potential as young men. In season 2014 we were able to achieve these objectives again. In regards to the AFL Draft, we have had an average of nearly 5 players drafted each year making the Falcons the top club in Australia in providing players to the AFL. In 2014 we again have players who will be potentially drafted/rookie- again enhancing our reputation as the leading AFL player development program. As for the players reaching their full potential, I believe we work very hard to help our players achieve realistic goals. Players can only play to the mental & physical ability they have. Some are capable of making the AFL, others VFL and most, hopefully go back to their local clubs better for the experience. Well done to all our squad players in 2014 and the support we get from the parents. We all have to be realistic about our son’s capabilities or we risk the advantage of the Geelong Falcons program becoming a negative, and that is not acceptable to me, Andrew Althorpe or any other staff member. The Geelong Falcons have a rich history in the TAC Cup:  Premiers 1992, 2000  Grand Finalists 1994, 1998.  Preliminary Finalists – 1996/2009/2013.  Finals 1993/1995/1996/1999/2001/2003/2014.  100+ drafted in 23 years (average approx. 5 per year)  2014 Draft – strong draft potential  The TAC Cup provides a very high percentage of draftees to the AFL each year.[50% in 2013]-expected 60% in 2014. Congratulations to Andrew Althorpe and Administration/Football Operations Manager Dean Pearce who were asked upon their appointments to reinvigorate the football programs and strive for best practice. Andy and the Match Committee have had an open and supportive approach to players and parents, with strong communication skills and honest assessments. We at the Falcons are always HONEST – so you know where we stand even though some do not always agree – we communicate and all staff are honest. Thank you to all our support staff who obviously are too many to mention but all play important roles on and off the field. We have a staff of 60 who all work for the Falcons because they have the desire to help our players reach their full potential. Congratulations also to Ron Imance who was presented with the “Noel Edgerton Award” in 2014 for outstanding service to the club over these past 20 years. All our staff represent every value this club has – Honesty, Friendship, Loyalty, Selflessness and for giving their time for the development of our players – your sons. Achievements 2014  Finals – 3rd on ladder: x 2 Finals  9 players – Patrick McCartin, Hugh Goddard, Jackson Nelson, , Teia Miles, Nick Dixon, Darcy Parish, Rhys Mathieson, Joe Maishman - played for Vic Country in the AFL National U18 Championships.  Darcy Parish and Rhys Mathieson named in the TAC Cup Team of the Year.  Players represented the State at U16 & U15 Level.  Three players selected in AFL/NAB Academy squad 2015 - Rhys Mathieson, Darcy Parish and Charlie Curnow.  All Australians – Patrick McCartin, Darcy Parish and Rhys Mathieson.  Geelong U15 were champions in Div 1 at the V/Line Championships.  The development of our players as young men.  Making friends with players, parents and staff that will hopefully last forever.  Draft 2014 –TBC.

Thank you for the support from AFL Barwon General Manager Lee Hartman and staff, and all our Leagues and Clubs. We see ourselves as a link between the player and family, their school and local club in the transition from underage football to senior football – AFL/VFL/VCFL. We are a partnership helping each other along a career pathway – credit for success must be shared with all concerned. Thank you to John Edsall – AFL Victoria’s Geelong Development Manager. John is very professional in supporting the Geelong Falcons Talented Player Programs and also delivering AFL Victoria Development duties to the region. John ensures that everything runs smoothly in his areas of responsibility, which of course enhances the Falcons outcomes and our reputation for quality program delivery. Acknowledgement must also be given to the staff who conduct our U16 and U15 development squads. The Geelong Falcons are only as strong as the players recruited to and developed throughout, this junior structure. Cameron Loftus, Brett Taylor and staff (U16), Barry Orvis (U15 Geelong) head their development squads and we thank them and their staff for the dedicated service they give year after year. We acknowledge the support of our sponsors who are listed throughout this report. Major sponsor of the TAC Cup “TAC”; our Major sponsor 2014 – REX GORELL FORD; Our Premier sponsors SUBWAY, KFC, QEST, WERRIBEE FOOTBALL CLUB ,ROSS PARKE/ GOODGUYS and MORRIS FINANCE. Corporate Sponsors – McHarry’s Buslines, Rodpak, Glynn Harvey Fruit & Vegies and Buckley’s Entertainment Centre. Also all our Gold Sponsors who have supported us for many years. Without the continued and new support of our sponsors the Geelong Falcons program could not provide the resources and staff that we do as each sponsor is an integral part of our support network. Special thanks to Rex Gorell Ford, our Major Sponsor over the past 11 years. Rex Gorell Ford provides a vehicle to the Geelong Falcons, which provides significant savings in our budget to allow us to provide improved and new resources to our staff and players throughout the region. The Herald Sun [Jay Clark], Geelong Advertiser [Nick Wade], Colac Herald [Ben Martin], Warrnambool Standard - K-Rock, 3YB, 3CS , Alex and Noel at Channel 31. Thank you also to the staff at AFL Victoria for their leadership and encouragement – Grant Williams (CEO), John Hook (Football Operations Manager) and Steve Reaper who has now been appointed CEO – AFL Vic replacing Grant who has moved to the AFL – good luck to both on their appointments.. We thank our players and parents leaving us in 2014 - your support has been appreciated. We wish the players all the best in their careers on and off the field and we hope your Geelong Falcons experience will be seen as a positive one for your future. Congratulations to the players who were drafted and good luck in your AFL careers.

Michael Turner AFL Victoria: Talent Manager Geelong Falcons: 1995-2014

COACH’S REPORT – 2014

This season provided many highlights along our journey in 2014. With our players earning representation at higher levels with Vic Country and the AFL Academy squads, this provided opportunities for 49 young men to play for the Geelong Falcons in 2014. Every game was a challenge and throughout the year the boys as a group showed plenty of resilience and they all should feel they have made a significant contribution to the team being able to finish 3rd on the ladder at the end of the Home & Away season.

When we look back at our finals campaign, there will be a lot of ‘what ifs’. The Qualifying Final was a tough and fast game, played at the highest standard. We had our opportunities, but we just didn’t take them.

Although, there were many positives along the 2014 TAC Cup journey:

 Finished 3rd on the ladder (after looking like we could miss finals at different times)  9 players in Vic Country Squad  3 players in Level 2 AIS AFL Academy Squad  2 players in Level 1 AIS AFL Academy Squad  1 player added to AFL Academy Squad in 2015  3 All Australians (McCartin, Parish & Mathieson)  2 players in TAC Cup Team of the Year  10 players invited to National Combine & Screening

Our Coaching Group saw some late changes due to personal circumstances prior to the start of the season. Daniel Lowther stepped up into the midfield role. Daniel was fantastic in his support of the players and myself as coach. Adam Wilkinson and Andrew Merriman stepped up into line coach roles with both holding the Forwards and Defence roles within the coaching group respectively. Both men have been fantastic contributors to the Under 18 program over a number of years, and I thank them for their support. Damian McMahon was again involved in the welfare of the players and as a bench coach. “Macca” has been an integral part of the program for a number of years and his role cannot be underestimated. As Head Coach, I have come to appreciate his support on many levels. Stuart McCoombe continued his superb work on oppo analysis, which was greatly appreciated by the coaching group. Development Coaches in Jarrod Reynolds, Luke Daffy and Michael “Billy” Di Domenico all provided valuable support to both the coaching group and players through training and their game day roles. In his first year involved with the Hampden squad, Matt Harkin did a phenomenal job, in teaching and supporting the boys from the Hampden region throughout preseason, and equally we have not forgotten the contribution he has made in 2014 throughout the regular season.

Our High Performance Team had a change in leadership, with Josh Humphries taking over near the end of preseason. I would to personally thank Levi Turner in establishing and driving our high performance over the last 4 years. Josh has been a part of the program for a while now and has done a great job in his first year.

Our medical team is second to none. The support the players get through Justin Edwards our physio is first class. Adam Flett our head trainer does an amazing job organizing our medical services during the week and on game day, in a role that is critical to our team’s success. We have had some significant injuries this year that have been handled in a first class manner, both from a physical and mental aspect.

I would personally like to thank all the families for their patience support and understanding that comes with your boy being a part of the Falcons program. The boys should be extremely grateful for the support they get from their families as we are as coaches. I hope that all boys walk away not only being better players but better people as well.

Last, but not least, I would like to thank Michael Turner (Talent Manager) and Dean Pearce (Football Manager) for their continued support in my role. Their feedback is greatly appreciated as well as their passion for the program and its people.

Andrew Allthorpe

FOOTBALL MANAGER’S REPORT – 2014 Mick has sometimes summarised how a Geelong Falcons’ season occasionally pans out – “be more than competitive throughout the regular season, numerous Falcons make State representative honours, the team makes finals, bows out at Season’s end with a fight all the while a number of players place themselves favourably in the eyes of AFL recruiters”. Season 2014 seemed to run pretty close to this script. But the significant level of player turnover experienced throughout the season, perhaps defined this year more than previous Falcons’ campaigns. Stemming from a highly talented playing list engaged in AFL Academy, State-level and private school football, Andy Allthorpe and his coaching group creditably managed many player absences through crafting a football program which accommodated for this sizeable player movement and still delivered results, both in terms of individual player development and team performance. Andy is quite right in reflecting on the fact the team was close to facing finals oblivion without a late turnaround in form and results which otherwise enabled the Falcons to not only make finals but claim a Top 4 position and a double chance.

It was obviously disappointing to end the season in ‘straight sets’, particularly with the Qualifying Final against Oakleigh going down to the wire, leaving many of us pondering the ‘what ifs’. However, for the majority of Season 2014 I thought this playing group played brave, uncompromising footy and won a number of close matches simply by refusing to give in and stay true to the Falcons brand of football. To that end, the three Falcons co-captains – Teia Miles, Aaron Christensen and Nick Dixon – should be rightly acknowledged for their on-field leadership and setting the tone for others to follow.

Without wanting to dwell on too many excuses, it should be said the year did not start well for the Falcons, even before Season 2014 started. To begin, the sudden loss our long-serving Club Doctor, Steve Baker, was compounded by the tragic circumstances concerning life threatening injuries to two of our top-age, key position players in Steve Presani and Lochie Donne. The loss of playing service from both young men pales into insignificance what both ‘Prez’ and Lochie have faced during their long road to recovering a full bill of health. Moreover, it has been inspiring to me to see both lads take to their rehab with seemingly no bitterness, but simple determination to get fit and even hold to the dream of playing as a Geelong Falcon again. As I write, the same ambition is being displayed by Max Augerinos who recently underwent knee reconstructive surgery following a heart-rending injury in the final game of this season which will largely impact what would have been a massive (top-age) year in Season 2015 for this talented and respected young footballer.

Despite the afore-mentioned lows of this season, I have thoroughly enjoyed my year again as Footy Manager at the Falcons and I sincerely thank Mick and Andy for their support and all of the Falcons’ staff for their selfless commitment to this elite-level youth football program. In particular, I grow wiser with every road trip undertaken with my fellow ‘muppets’ (Bill, Shuggy, Pete and Brian), but will be strongly recommending to Mick we purchase a ‘Sat Nav’ anytime Bill Scott has the driving duties next season!!!

On a serious note, it has been a pleasure to work closely with the entire Falcons coaching group which included assistants Daniel Lowther, Andrew Merriman, Adam Wilkinson, Mick Di Domenico, Jarrod Reynolds, Luke Daffy and ‘Macca’. The Falcons’ coaching group was somewhat thrown into flux with the sudden departure of a couple of line coaches late in the pre-season. Fortunately, ‘Mez’ and ‘Wilko’ quickly stepped up into their respective Defensive and Forwards line coaching roles averting any significant disruption to the preparation and development of our playing list throughout this season. I’m not sure if this is a coincidence, but both line coaches voluntarily stood down from their appointments at Season’s end, citing family and work commitments and I’d like to acknowledge and thank both coaches for the dedication and professional approach they brought to the Falcons program and wish them well in their future endeavours. As is the case for any TAC Cup campaign, the often unnoticed role the players’ parents play has been crucial to the Geelong Falcons’ success this season. Firstly, the strong values and standards that each player brings to the Falcons speaks volumes for the character and principles originating from their parents. Such grounding I think lays a great foundation for the lads to cope with the challenges that invariably come their way at the elite level of footy. It is a credit to every parent to have dutifully supported their sons throughout the 2014 season while balancing school, football and family commitments. On behalf of the Falcons’ staff, we thank all parents for their support.

The other constant to the Falcons’ program this season has been the quality and commitment made by the Falcons support staff. Of note, the High Performance Team (led by Levi Turner, then assumed by Josh Humphries towards the end of pre-season) continues to evolve its fitness program and explore ways to best prepare and manage every player’s needs to excel at the elite level of youth football. When coupled with the support of our Trainers/Medical staff (led by Adam Flett and Justin Edwards), it would be difficult to imagine a more comprehensive service could be delivered to the playing group.

In closing, I wish those players departing the Falcons program all the very best for what the future holds – whether it be at an AFL or VFL club or indeed should you return to your local footy club; I’m sure you will enjoy prosperous careers in the sporting arena and/or your chosen working career. To those that will remain with the Falcons into Season 2015, I look forward to working with all staff and players for another season of good fun! Dean Pearce Football Manager

In 1996, the AFL/VFL revamped representative junior football in Australia to be more closely aligned to the requirements of the AFL draft which, as of 1999, is for 18YO players and 17YO players born before April 30th, taken from the whole of Australia. NB: As of 1999, there are no restrictions on how many 17YO players are drafted in this category. Hence, State representative teams were changed from U17 Teal Cup to the AFL U18 and U16 National Championships.

A.F.L. NAB U18 National Championships - 2014

Each State in Australia has a representative team in these annual, elite National Championships. Victoria, “the home of football”, provides two teams – Victorian Metropolitan (“Vic Metro”) team and Victorian Country (“Vic Country”). Both representative sides competed in a further revamped, extended structure which required Vic Country to play six matches – pitting Vic Country against the other three Division One teams twice (Vic Metro, South Australia & Western Australia). The team was coached by Mark Ellis and Geelong Falcons had staff members Rick Embelton, John Hunt and Daniel Lowther assisting in the program.

For the 2014 Championships, Geelong Falcons had nine representative players in the Vic Country team: Hugh Goddard, Paddy McCartin, Joe Maishman, Jackson Nelson, Zaine Cordy, Teia Miles, Darcy Parish, Rhys Mathieson and Nick Dixon. South Australia won the 2014 Division One National Championship while Vic Country finished its campaign with a 3-3 win-loss record.

2014 AFL VICTORIA U16 COUNTRY CARNIVAL – March/April

The 2014 Geelong Falcons U16 development program began in late January with squads training in the Geelong and Hampden regions. This year selectors were looking for 30 players to represent the club at the U16 Country Carnival during 3 rounds of carnival games. Final squad selection took place in March after try out matches played in Geelong and Camperdown. The selected team trained at Highton Reserve on Wednesdays and Fridays before playing a practice game against North Ballarat in preparation for the carnival games. This was the first year of this format, with players presented with a great opportunity to prepare in the same manner as U18 TAC Cup players. This allowed them to experience dealing with unfamiliar surroundings, heightened expectations in professionalism and also playing on bigger grounds including AFL venues such as Simonds stadium. It also provides a valuable team-bonding environment with players needing to deal with missing out on initial selections, finding out how they respond to being challenged to play roles within the team structure and dealing with injuries. 1st Game Geelong Falcons 8.3.51 lost to North Ballarat 10.11.71

Goals: A. Witherden 2, R. Todd 2, S. Holroyd 1, J. McLachlan 1, D. Schilder 1, P. Dowling 1. Best: A. Witherden, B. McNamara, J. Rossi, S. Darcy, T. King

With our young group finding their feet slowly, the carnival began tentatively with North Ballarat capitalising on our mistakes and eventually running away with a good win. This was a great experience for the boys who quickly realised that as the level raises the intensity and use of the ball must be good or you are punished. If we were to improve, then the boys needed to come out of their comfort zones and take the game on. 2nd Game Geelong Falcons 18.6.114 def Dandenong Stingrays 6.9.45

Goals: S. Holroyd 4, J. McLachlan 3, P. Dowling 2, Z. Zdybel 2, M. Diamond 1, A. Hickey 1, J. Arcoraci 1, P. Norton 1, L. Moorwood 1, J. Scarlett 1, J. Heathcote 1. Best: S. Darcy, A. Witherden, S. Holroyd, L. Morwood, M. Diamond, J. McLachlan Much was learnt from Game 1 with the players realising that to pressure the opposition you must raise the intensity at the ball and at the man when the opposition have the ball. With Alex Witherden setting the example off half back, Sean Darcy taking charge in the ruck and Sean Holroyd leading strongly and kicking 4 goals in the first half, the Falcons played a terrific brand of footy. Not afraid to switch the play and create our own run, the ball use was exceptional and the crowd at Simmonds stadium was given a glimpse of the future stars of the TAC program. 3rd Game Geelong Falcons 9.6.60 lost to Gippsland Power 12.6.78

Goals: Z. Zdybel 4, J. McLachlan 2, P. Norton 2, T. King 1. Best: Z.Zdybel, S. Darcy, A. Witherden, J. McLachlan Game 3 proved to be another great learning experience for the Falcons team. Travelling to Bendigo, preparing for an away game and coming up against a strong Gippsland side is what the U16 carnival is all about. Breaking away to an early lead, our team led by 14 points at three quarter time. Zachary Zdybel continued his meteoric rise from an unknown talent to a future state player and the players were sharing the ball with great cohesion. But they were tiring and Gippsland were coming home strongly. A seven goal last quarter showed Gippsland’s class and they will be a formidable opposition in future years for this group to work towards.

2014 NAB AFL U16 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS After a solid carnival, we were pleased to have 9 Geelong Falcons players Sean Darcy, Pat Dowling, Luke Henry, Sean Holroyd, Lachlan Moorwood, Patrick Norton, Darby Schilder, Alex Witherden and Zachary Zdybel invited into the Victorian Country squad, all vying for selection into the team to participate in the 2014 NAB AFL National U16 Championships on the Gold Coast in Queensland. After several trial games and training sessions under the eye of coach Paul Henriksen and his support staff, the final squad of 25 was announced. This included four Geelong Falcons and a BIG Congratulations to Alex Witherden, Zachary Zdybel, Darby Schilder and Sean Darcy for making the final squad with Sean Holroyd and Luke Henry named as the emergencies. Congratulations to all of the boys on their performances throughout the campaign.

Once again the Falcons team off the field ensured that the boys experienced this next step in their desire to reach their full potential. Team manager Ron Imanse is key to us being organised and prepared for the carnival and is well supported by Shaunn Rock and our medical team including Justin Edwards, Tim Malberg, Richard Embelton and Colin Watson. The coaching staff of James Colbert, Brett Taylor, Barry Orvis, Daniel Beard, Luke Daffy, Mick McManus and Sam Loftus was outstanding in their support and advice for the players. Special thanks also to Dave Farrell and his recruiting team, to Steve Lucas (bus driver) and to Levi Turner and Andy Allthorpe for their expertise. Also, a special thank you to Nathan Murray and Morris Finance who continue to add enormously through their support of the U16 Geelong Falcons development program. Finally to Michael Turner, it is a privilege to coach and coordinate the U/16 program. You show a lot of trust and empowerment to myself and our group. Each year we are provided the best talent in the region to work with and we love every minute of it. Cameron Loftus - U16 Program Coordinator & Coach

Geelong V/Line Cup - U/15 Championships Report 2014

We would like to thank everyone for their involvement with the V/Line Cup for 2014. It was fantastic to see the Division 1 Team rewarded with a win in the Final game by one point. The Division 3 Team was made up of many U/14 players, and they will certainly benefit for the run next year. We certainly hope that all players use the development platform of the V/Line Cup to ‘springboard’ themselves into the Geelong Falcons U/16 Program and beyond.

On behalf of Worksafe AFL Vic Country-Barwon we would like to formally thank:  Neville Daffy, Barry Orvis and Brendan Forssman for their outstanding coaching and leadership throughout the program;  Rod Grant, Russell Lucas, Russell McMahon, Paul Liistro, Bailey Forssman, James McMahon and Joel Lucas for their assistance throughout the program especially at training and on match days;  Mark Del Gallo and Laura Petschel-Middleton for their valued support as trainers;  Brett Connell, Will McGregor and Gerard Ryan (in particular) from Worksafe AFL Vic Country for the management of the Championships;  The player’s parents and supporters for their assistance and support of the players involved with the program;  The players’ clubs and coaches for their contribution to the players’ development and for their support of the program;  And finally to the players’ for their commitment to the game and for wanting to play at the highest possible level of football.
