On October 16, the School City of Hammond and other local officials came out to help break ground on the new Hammond High School. The new or Not highschool will be much larger, spanning 417,000 square feet, housing both Hammond High and Eggers Middle School students. The building is being constructed on the west side of the old highschool, where the football field currently resides. Once the old highschool is demolished, it will be replaced with a new baseball field and parking lot. The project will be completed in Fall 2021, with students attending the old Hammond High until the new school is finished.
