Contact: Caitlyn Baker [email protected] (805) 944-7780 (c) (805) 350-7913 (o) THREE DOG NIGHT COMING TO CHUMASH CASINO RESORT SANTA YNEZ, CA – October 8, 2019 – Three Dog Night, the classic rockers who in their nearly five decades together have achieved some of the most astonishing statistics in popular music, will bring their North American tour to the Chumash Casino Resort’s Samala Showroom at 8 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2019. Tickets for the show are $29, $39, $49, $54 & $59. Throughout their careers, Three Dog Night produced a string of 21 consecutive Top 40 hits on the pop charts, which included “Mama Told Me (Not to Come),” “Joy to the World” and “Black and White” all becoming No. 1 hits. The band formed in 1967 with vocalists Danny Hutton, Chuck Negron and Cory Wells. They eventually hired backing musicians Ron Morgan (guitar), Floyd Sneed (drums), Joe Schermie (bass) and Jimmy Greenspoon (keyboards). Morgan left the band early on and was replaced by Michael Allsup. They made their official debut in 1968 at the Whiskey a Go Go at a press party hosted by Dunhill Records. Their first album, “Three Dog Night,” was a success with hit songs “One,” “Try A Little Tenderness” and “Nobody.” It helped the band gain recognition and become one of the top concert acts of their time. Today, the band is made up of Danny Hutton (founder/lead vocalist), Michael Allsup (guitar), Paul Kingery (bass/vocals), Paul Bautz (drums), Howard Laravea (keyboards), and David Morgan (vocals). The group continues to maintain an aggressive, year-round touring schedule of more than 70 dates a year. Despite the passing of founding members Cory Wells, Jimmy Greenspoon and Joe Schermie, the Three Dog Night distinctive sound remains the same. The entire Gainesville music scene was built around songs: Top Forty songs on the radio, songs on albums, original songs performed on stage by bands and other musical ensembles. The late sixties was a golden age of rock and pop music and the rise of the rock band as a musical entity. As the counterculture marched for equal rights and against the war in Vietnam, a sonic revolution was occurring in the recording studio and on the concert stage. New sounds were being created through multitrack recording techniques, and record producers such as Phil Spector and George Martin became integral parts of the creative process. Musicians expanded their sonic palette by experimenting with the sounds of sitar, and through sound-modifying electronic ef- fects such as the wah-wah pedal, fuzz tone, and the Echoplex tape-de- lay unit, as well as a variety of new electronic keyboard instruments and synthesizers. The sound of every musical instrument contributed toward the overall sound of a performance or recording, and bands were begin- ning to expand beyond the core of drums, bass, and a couple guitars.

We held our breath and watched as events were cancelled and postponed, including the ANZAAB Antiquarian and Rare Book Fairs. But in the slowing and stilling of those weeks and months something lovely happened: Archives FFine People called and ordered books or bought them through our website, and many booked appointments for quiet, socially distant browsing. Dedicated book collectors kept collecting books and others discovered they loved books too. We didn’t acquire much stock in this period, but when we were offered a small collection of mid-to-late twentieth century illustrated and signed items we were feeling cheery and hopeful, took them on, and Catalogue 12 came into being. Between the covers you will find John and Yoko, Ray Bradbury, Three Dog Night, Harvey Kurtzman, Jenny Saville and more. True to form we have tucked a little William Blake in the mix on pp. 6 & 17.
