Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Bogor Agricultural University (FPIK-IPB) in cooperation with the Embassy of France held an International Workshop on Marine Fisheries and Marine Science 2014, Monday (21/4). The workshop, held in the Meeting Room of FPIK-IPB, was to explore the potential of sustainable Indonesian fisheries andmarine.

This workshop discussed the exploitation of the sea through a variety of activities such as fisheries, ports, transportation, processing of fish and its derivatives in both countries.

In his speech, IPB’s Vice Rector for Research and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Anas Miftah Fauzi said that research cooperation between the two countries ( and France) are expected to contribute in the field of marine and fisheries in Indonesia.

Prof. Anas added that the importance of fisheries and marine science is so great that IPB puts it in the formulation of its new vision and mission. "It is written that IPB’s vision and mission is not only concerning agriculture but also tropical marine science," he said. Through this workshop, he added, we can explore the capacity of each institution and obtain good results as well as contribution to many parties.

The Plenary Presentation Workshop discussed the policy and management of marine resources exploitation in France with the topic The Policy of Exploitation and Management of Marine Resources in France presented by the Deputy Director of IUMIUniversity of Rantes,France, P Guillotreau.

This activity was attended by various institutions including Agency for Research and Development of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of Indonesia, Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), the Regional Government of East , Atma Jaya University, , University of Pattimura, , Directorate General of Capture Fisheries of Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Indonesian and representatives ofFrench-Indonesian Institute.
