PIDGEONs of Sutton-under-, Sutton-under-Brailes, Brailes, Lower Brailes, Burmington, Cherrington, Eatington (now Ettington), , Willington and Whichford are all parishes or small villages in the south of Warwickshire. Most are in the registration district of Shipston-on Stour – except Eatington which is in Stratford-upon Avon. Do not confuse Burmington with Birmingham, which is a large city in what used to be the north-west of Warwickshire, but is now part of the county of . It is not known for certain where Thomas Pidgeon and Mary Reason came from. Thomas could have been baptised at Worcester in 1706, the son of another Thomas. But where did Thomas senior come from? One possibility is (3 mile north of Sutton), where he was baptised in 1675, the son of Reuben and Sarah Pidgeon (see the Pidgeons of Whatcote family tree). Thomas and Mary married at Sutton-under-Brailes in 1731, and their children and grandson William were born there. Two of their great-great-grandsons emigrated to Ontario, Canada around 1870. In spite of a Y-DNA test on one of their descendants, we still have no clue as to where Thomas originated. Contributor: Walter Pidgeon Notes: ab. = about, b. = born, bp. = baptised, bu. = buried, d. = died, m. = married, + = extra-marital relationship
