KTA Contract 6031 Notice to Bidders NOTICE TO BIDDERS

Notice is hereby given that the Turnpike Authority (KTA) is requesting sealed proposals for furnishing all labor and materials and performing all work in accordance with the Plans and Specifications and other Contract Documents, known as KTA Contract No. 6031, in Chase County, Kansas.

TYPE OF WORK: Construction of Reinforced Box Culverts at KTA/I-35 MM 101.70 and 101.90. Structures are designated as follows: Br. No. KTA/I-35-9-101.70(15-4) – Single 20'x10'x91'-6" and extend existing Dbl 16'x10' RCB Br. No. KTA/I-35-9-101.90(270) – Dbl 14'x8'-6"x148'-6” and extend existing Dbl 14'x8'-6" RCB. Additional items of work are Grading, Surfacing, Guardrail, Fencing and Seeding.

PRE-QUALIFICATION. Bids will only be accepted by Contractors that are pre-qualified by the Kansas Department of Transportation.

MANDATORY PRE-BID CONFERENCE. A mandatory pre-bid conference for this project is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17th, 2016 at the Kansas Turnpike Authority Topeka Maintenance Building, 3939 S. Topeka Blvd., Topeka, KS. Contractors wishing to bid on this project are required to attend the pre-bid conference.

SEALED PROPOSALS. Sealed proposals will be accepted at the Kansas Turnpike Authority Topeka Office at 3939 SW Topeka Boulevard, Topeka, Kansas until Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. Sealed proposals will then be accepted at the Kansas Turnpike Authority Topeka Maintenance Building at 3939 SW Topeka Boulevard, Topeka, Kansas, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. All bids must be made on the required bid form or exact copy thereof. All blank spaces for bid prices must be filled in, in ink, or typewritten, and the bid form must be fully completed and executed when submitted. Each bid must be submitted in a sealed envelope bearing on the outside the name of the bidder, his address, and the name of the project for which the bid is submitted. If forwarded by mail, the sealed envelope containing the bid must be enclosed in another envelope addressed as specified in the bid form.

Proposals will be opened and read publicly at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at the Kansas Turnpike Authority Topeka Maintenance Building at 3939 SW Topeka Boulevard, Topeka, Kansas. Facsimile bids will not be accepted. Proposals must be accompanied by a bid bond in the amount of 5 percent of bid and made payable to the Kansas Turnpike Authority as guarantee that the bidder will enter into a contract and give a performance bond as required if awarded the contract.

The award of each contract shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Standard Specifications of the Kansas Department of Transportation, edition of 2015, and will be based upon the summation of the products of the unit prices and the approximate quantities.

The Authority reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any irregularity therein, to determine which is the lowest responsible bid most suitable to the Authority.
