NIELSEN MUSIC 20I7 YEAR-END MUSIC REPORT CANADA 1 INTRODUCTION The music industry in Canada has never been stronger, with record consumption, growing live music attendance and a new class of emerging artists. Nielsen Music has also had an amazing, transformative year. Technological advancements and new partnerships have allowed us to provide robust, comprehensive data in more accessible, customizable and useful ways in 2017. Over the past year, we received a record number of requests for Nielsen Music research and insight reports. Welcome to the Nielsen Music Year-End Report, which examines the trends that shaped the Paul Shaver Canadian music industry in 2017 with definitive consumption figures and charts. Vice President/ Head of Nielsen Music Canada Overall consumption of albums, songs and On-Demand Audio streaming grew 13.6% year-over- year. On-Demand Audio streaming offset decreases in track and album sales and, on December 3, for the first time in history, it surpassed the 900 million per week mark. Ed Sheeran led all artists in Canada with overall consumption and had the top-selling album of the year. Six Canadians had No. 1 albums on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart in 2017, including The Weeknd’s Starboy, Drake’s More Life, Arcade Fire’s Everything Now, Shania Twain’s Now, Pierre Lapointe’s La Science Du Coeur and Gord Downie’s Introduce Yerself. The passing of Gord Downie captured the nation’s attention. In the week following his death, The Tragically Hip’s overall consumption increased by 1,000% over the previous week. Also, six of the group’s albums re-entered the Billboard Canadian Albums chart.

  • REMEMBER THIS SONG? a 2003 Musical Quiz Manus: Claes Nordenskiöld Producent: Claes Nordenskiöld Sändningsdatum: 19/11, 2003 Längd: 14’51
Over to You 2003/2004 Remember This Song? Programnr:31495ra5 REMEMBER THIS SONG? A 2003 Musical Quiz Manus: Claes Nordenskiöld Producent: Claes Nordenskiöld Sändningsdatum: 19/11, 2003 Längd: 14’51 Music: Eminem “Lose Yourself ” Claes Nordenskiöld: Welcome to Remember This Song? – the yearly program that gives you a chance to remember a few of the hits of the past year – A 2003 Musical Quiz. What you heard in the opening was of course Eminem in “Lose Yourself ” from the soundtrack to the movie “8 Mile”. Now, whatever kind of music you like, whether it’s hip-hop, heavy metal, rock or pop, there’ll hopefully be something for you in this program – because there’s so much good music out there. You need a piece of paper and a pencil. I’m looking for a name with 11 letters, which make up the answer. Just write the numbers 1 to 11 on the left-hand side of your paper. And as always, I will play parts of several songs. Each part is a clue to the answer. The clues may be the title of a song, the name of a group or a singer, and so on. You may not be able to answer every single question, but you’ll still have a chance to get the final answer, which I’ll give, at the end of the show. So, let’s get started with the clue for number 3. The members of Outlandish have different ethnic backgrounds – Morocco, Pakistan and Honduras. But the band really comes from Denmark. For number 3, I’m looking for the title of their first super-hit.

  • Six Weeks Module 5
SIX WEEKS TO SUCCESSFUL CHRISTIAN SONGWRITING with John Chisum MODULE #5 - MAKING YOUR SONGS SING! INTRODUCTION Hi, everyone, and welcome back to Six Weeks to Successful Christian Songwriting, an online coaching experience aiming to empower you to write the best songs you’ve ever written and to transform your life as you dig deeper into Jesus for your writing inspiration! This is John Chisum for Nashville Christian Songwriters. I don’t know about you, but I have enjoyed every minute of this and my hope is that you’ve come alive in your songwriting! Everything I’ve shared with you has come straight out of my heart and out of my 30+ years of writing and publishing. I’ve had such an amazing life of working with some of the best Christian artists and songwriters—I’m loving sharing those insights with you! What I hope you’ll keep in mind is that this six week’s coaching is about equipping you, giving you the tools you can use the rest of your life to write great songs. It all doesn’t come to a crashing halt when the six weeks is over and you’ve listened through each module. In fact, that’s just where it all STARTS! These modules are broken up into 20- 30-minute segments in hopes they’ll be more digestible for you and that you’ll want to come back to them again and again, or at least print out the transcripts, put them in a song notebook and review them anytime you’re feeling stuck and needing a little boost to get going again.
