It's fair to say that as Chairman of the Manurewa A.F.C I was and am still not happy with the formation of the Franklin United Club, which was only supposed to be a cluster club operation. But enough about that and welcome Franklin United's First and Reserve teams to Memorial Park.

Last weeks game against Oratia saw both sides return to the level of play we know they can produce and I will be looking for more of the same this week. Hopefully the weather will be kind and both sides can play on the main pitch. Again we are hearing that council is looking to do something to the number 1. We live in hope. I'm told by those using Jellicoe Park that the surface and ware of this pitch is standing up well.

Unfortunately the club social had to be cancelled but I'm sure we will try to arrange something prior to the end of the season.

Those who are participating in the Memorial Day on Sunday the 24th at 1pm, thanks in advance for your recognition of those who have gone before us. To Barend, without you and your teams efforts, this day would not be the success that it is every year so thank you very much.

Keep up the fundraising. The first reports are that you are doing beautifully so thank you for your efforts.

See you in the stands, all the best to every Rewa side playing this weekend.

A WORD FROM THE CLUB MANAGER

Afternoon to all,

This weekend promises to be a busy one at the club with all four senior teams at home as we aim for 12pts between us. We are very pleased to announce and welcome Jetts Gym as part of the Manurewa AFC team as they come on board in what will hopefully be a long and successful partnership. Welcome to Jim and the boy's from Franklin, our opposition in what is sure to be a close and exiting game.

Special shout out to the SAE youth boys who have travelled to Wellington, Australia, and Northern Ireland respectively during these school holidays. If you do get a chance, check out their fixtures and come down and support the boys in action when they return to Memorial - SAE 14th, SAE 15th.

Good luck to the Div. 6 boys. the old fellas in the O35's, Martinez and the Ressies, and Nath's 1st team squad. To all the juniors and youth, I hope you enjoyed a successful morning.

Thank you to all the supporters for coming down to cheer on our teams, we appreciate it all and hopefully you are repaid with goals and points!

Welcome to Franklin first team and reserves.

I am away this week as we currently have 15 players on or about to go on training tours either to wellington, Australia or Europe. Represent well boys.

I'm disappointed I can’t be at todays game as I am excited to see the calibre of the upcoming young local players which is the backbone of why Franklin was set up.

We too have some young players about to step into reserves football so it will be great to see these guys in action and see what our 14-16 year olds combining with some old dogs have in store for next year.

I hope we can continue on from our goal scoring run and put some more balls in the back of the net.

Good luck to the first team boys...3 points please.

Cheers Marty

Today we welcome Franklin United to Memorial Park.

This is the first of consecutive South Auckland derbies for us, with Papakura up next week. It’s always good to see so many South Auckland teams competing at this level, so here’s hoping that continues next season for no other reason than the shorter commute for most.

The first round saw us come away from a tight contest at Massey Park with a hard-fought victory, but with a mid- season coaching change, Franklin has put in improved performances, and combined with the levelling Memorial Park field, this contest will be a much tougher encounter.

Last week’s win against Oratia was a step in the right direction for us, and one we hope to continue along. The business-end of the season is approaching and we must start now as we mean to go on.

Enjoy the match and classic Manurewa atmosphere.

See you upstairs after the game.

Our boys at Ole Accademy, Wellington Youth Report

Hi all

In the days leading upto last weekends fixtures our fields suffered with all the rainfall we had causing numerous transfers. Fortunately there were no postponements due to the field conditions and teams managed to get their games played.

We have changed the date of the next player of the day presentation to next Saturday 23rd July to coincide with the home game against Papakura. Hopefully we will get the youth and juniors to stay on and show their support to Nathan and the boys.

I say a huge thanks to all those youth teams who have taken their allocation of fundraising chocolates. Please remember to get the money back to the club as soon as possible. This can be handed in at the bar—be sure you have your team name on each envelope. Contact any committee member to make arrangements if you are unable to make it to the club on a Saturday afternoon.

In the next programme report I will be giving an update on our players who have been travelling within NZ and overseas during July. Some of them have already returned from their successful travels.

Thanks to all teams for attending the photo nights. With your punctuality, allowing us to run to schedule made for a successful 3 nights. Be sure to look at the club facebook page where the photographer has posted a video from Tuesday nights photos.

Best of luck to all Manurewa teams today.

Laurette Hummels Youth Chairperson

All junior teams have a break this weekend due to school holidays. We hope families are enjoy a less frantic time without having to rush out the door for footy.

The season is quickly coming to an end with only 6 or so games left for most teams. It will be summer again before we know it.

Just a reminder about the club fundraiser this year. We are selling Chocolates so please contact your coach or committee for further info or extra boxes.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and school holidays
