ATHLETIC FACILITIES

Ronald J. Abdow Field Ronald J. Abdow Field serves as the home field for the American International College field hockey, football, rugby, lacrosse, and will play host to almost all games played by the AIC soccer teams. The facility was built during the summer of 2009 and features a turf playing surface, lights, new bleachers and a new press box and has a capacity of 4,000. The main grandstand holds 2,000 people, with additional seating on the visitors sideline and standing room areas. The new press box features private booths for football coaching staffs and a broadcast booth for www.yellowjackets.tv

Henry A. Butova Gymnasium Henry A. Butova Gymnasium is the home of the American International College basketball, volleyball and wrestling teams and provides an indoor training facility to AIC's outdoor teams. The main arena has a seating capacity of 2,500 and can fully accommo- date radio and television broadcasts. A new lighting system was installed prior to the start of the 2008- 09 basketball and wrestling season and the floor was completely resurfaced in the summer of 2009. The adjacent Metcalf Gymnasium provides addition- al practice space, a fitness center, varsity weight room, locker rooms, offices and the Athletic Hall of Fame.

Richard F. Bedard Field Richard F. Bedard Field was dedicated to for- mer AIC Athletic Director, and long-time sup- porter of AIC athletics, Mr. Richard F. Bedard on October 18, 2014 and is the home of the American International College baseball team. Bleacher seating and a scorebox are located behind home plate. New fencing along the outfield and dugouts were installed prior to the 2016 season.

Judy Groff Field Judy Groff Field is the home of the American Inter- national College softball team and was dedicated to legendary head coach Judy Groff in a ceremony held April 29, 2006. The field has bleacher seating behind home plate and down the right field line and had permanent fences installed down the left and right field foul lines in the summer of 2009. New fencing along the outfield and dugouts were installed prior

John G. Hoyt ‘52 Track & Field Complex/ MassMutual Soccer Field The John G. Hoyt '52 Track & Field Complex, which includes the MassMutual Soccer Field, was completed in October 2009, featuring a six-lane 400-meter track, two long jump pits, two shot put areas, a pole vault pit, and separate areas for the hammer and javelin. The grass field located inside the track serves as an additional competition and practice facility for the men's and women's soccer teams.

MassMutual Center Located less than 10 minutes away from the AIC campus, MassMutual Center is the new home for the men’s ice hockey team in 2016-17. The MassMu- tual Center is a state-of-the-art, multipurpose facility located at 1277 Main Street, Springfield, MA.

Forest Park Tennis Center Conveniently located less than 10 minutes away from the AIC campus, Forest Park is one of the largest urban, municipal parks in the US. With other attractions such as a zoo, amphitheater, and wooded trails, AIC is fortunate to be able to use the tennis facility and be apart of this histor-

From North or South

Take I-91 into Springfield to the Route 291 East exit. Follow Route 291 East to Exit 5B. Turn right onto Route 20A West. At the end of the ramp get into the left hand lane. At the traffic light turn left onto Roosevelt Avenue. Proceed along Roosevelt for approximately two miles, then turn right onto Roosevelt Terrace, bear left at the split and then turn left onto Cortland Street. Bedard Field, Abdow Field, Butova Gymnasium and Groff Field will be on your left. AIC Tennis Courts, John G. Hoyt Track & Field Complex and MassMutual Soccer Field will be on your right.

From East or West

Follow I-90 (Massachusetts Turnpike) to exit 6. After the toll booth, turn left onto Route 291 West. Take exit 5B (Route 20A West) bearing to the right. Proceed as noted above.

Take I-91 South to Exit 8 for I-291/US-20 East. Keep right to continue onto Exit 2 and follow signs to merge onto Chestnut Street. Turn right onto Liberty Street, use the left two lanes to turn left onto Dwight Street. In half a mile, turn right onto then turn left onto Main Street.

From South

Take I-91 to Exit 6, and merge onto E. Columbus Ave. Turn right onto Court St., then turn right onto Main Street.

From East or West

Take Mass Pike (I-90) to I-91 South. Proceed as directed above.

PARKING INFORMATION

Parking:

AIC Campus: All practice and game day parking is located in close proximity to all of our athletic facilities. For individuals attending events at Abdow Field, Butova Gym, Groff Field, Bedard Field, or the John G. Hoyt ‘52 Track & Field Complex there will be ample parking on Parking Lot V located across the street from Judy Groff Field. *For foot- ball games there will be additional grass parking in Parking Lot W behind the baseball fences*(Please see map on previous page for reference)

MassMutual Center: Parking is available in a garage across from the entrance of the MassMutual Center and limited parking around Downtown Springfield.

Springfield Country Club: All practice and game day parking is located within the property as you enter the country club’s main entrance.

Forest Park Tennis Center: All practice and game day parking is located in the main parking lot of the tennis facility right off of main greeting road.

Additional Parking Information:

Bus/Van Parking: Buses and vans will be told where to park by an AIC athletics administrator prior to your arrival to our facilities. Please let us know if you’ll be arriving by bus or van ahead of time, we greatly appreciate it.

Officials Parking: All officials will be permitted to park in Parking Lot S which is located behind Henry A. Butova Gymnasium.

Parking Ticketing Hours: On campus ticketing hours run 24 hours a day. However, our administrative staff will be notified to allow visitors to park in the designated parking areas without a permit starting from one hour prior to game time.

Tailgating: Tailgating is permitted on campus at AIC. The home tailgate is denoted by Lot V. The visiting tailgate is Lot W.

Athletic Communications

Credentials: Members of the working media and other news organizations can request credentials to cover Yellow Jacket events. To request a credential, please contact the Director of Athletic Communications or Coordinator of Ath- letic Communications at least 24 hours prior to the event. Accredited photographers ONLY may shoot at desig- nated spots on the field/sidelines. All others are not permitted on any playing surface.

Interviews: One-on-one interviews with Yellow Jacket student-athletes or coaches should be requested 24 hours in ad- vance with the Director of Athletic Communications or Coordinator of Athletic Communications. Interview de- tails will be arranged by the Athletic Communication Department. Any interview with a member of the visiting team must be made through the Athletic Communication Department of that school.

Statistics: Game day programs, cumulative stats and notes (when available) will be provided upon request with creden- tials prior to the start of the contest. Complete statistical information of the game will be distributed following the game. The press box at Abdow Field and Butova Gymnasium are WiFi accessible. Additionally, Ethernet ports are spread throughout the Abdow Field press box.

Radio/Video Broadcasts: Visiting radio broadcasts will be granted phone access in the press box at Abdow Field and in Butova Gymnasi- um. Please notify the Director of Athletic Communications a week in advance to secure phone lines and press row seats.
