WHEREAS, Coco Miller and Kelly Miller were outstanding Mayo High School players who helped their team to a 27-0 1997 season and win the Minnesota Class 4A Championships in both 1995 and 1997; and

WHEREAS, These young women had successful careers with the Georgia Lady Bulldogs where they were ranked #4 and #5 on the all- time career scoring list; both were named All-SEC during each of their four seasons in Athens; were co-awarded the James E. Sullivan Award as our nation’s top amateur athletes; were inducted in the University of Georgia’s prestigious Circle of Honors; earned All-America and Academic All-America honors while at Georgia; played on the USA Team at the 1999 World University Games; and

WHEREAS, Both women had successful WNBA careers. Each selected in the first round of the 2001 WNBA draft, with one team winning a 2007 Championship and both being named “Most Improved Athlete” during this time; both women also played a season for the NWBL; and

WHEREAS, These talented athletes were recognized as 2019 Southeast Conference Legends, a recognition of outstanding former female student athletes from each member institution, in addition to winning many other titles and recognitions during their careers; and

WHEREAS, Coco and Kelly Miller will be inducted into the 2019 Minnesota High School Basketball Hall of Fame on March 26, 2019, at the Marriott City Center in Minneapolis,

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: I, Kim Norton, Mayor of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, do hereby proclaim March 26, 2019, to be

COCO AND KELLY MILLER DAY
