    [SPRINGFIELD CITY EMPLOYEE NEWS EXTRA ] March 2020 City names Neil Slagle as new Director of Information Systems Neil Slagle was named the City of Springfield’s States Marine, Director of Information Systems (IS), effective having served two Feb. 18. This position is critical in leading the City’s tours supporting technology needs, including those that directly affect air traffic control "All School Exhibition" daily operations, both emergency and routine citizen systems for several March 6–April 26 services. The IS Department serves approximately Marine air control 2,500 employees across 22 departments, located squadrons.     World TeamTennis adds team, Washington Kastles, in Washington D.C. NEW YORK, N.Y. (February 14, 2008) - The World TeamTennis Pro League today announced the League has added a franchise in Washington, D.C. The Washington Kastles, owned by a group led by venture capitalist and entrepreneur Mark Ein, will play their home matches at a Washington, D.C., location soon to be announced. The 2008 WTT regular season runs July 3-23 with the WTT Championship Weekend set for July 24-27 in Roseville, Calif. World TeamTennis, co-founded in 1974 by tennis legend Billie Jean King, features several generations of tennis pros competing in a co-ed pro league in communities throughout the U.S. each summer. This is the first Washington, D.C.-based team in the League’s 33-year history. “Washington D.C. is a world-class sports market that will be a showcase for World TeamTennis,” said WTT CEO/Commissioner Ilana Kloss. “We’ve looked at this market for several years as a great location for expansion. Thanks to the leadership and vision of Mark Ein, everything came together for it to happen this year.” “Area fans have supported tennis for many years and we think they will really embrace our unique brand of tennis,” added Kloss. The Kastles will select their lineup when they draft sixth out of 11 teams at the WTT Player Draft on April 1 in Miami. Washington will play seven home matches and seven matches on the road during the month-long season. The team is currently looking at several potential locations to build a temporary stadium for the season.

    MINUTES REGULAR MEETING OF THE SPRINGFIELD-GREENE COUNTY PARK BOARD Friday, October 11, 2013, 8:30 a.m. Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park, 8325 W. FR 146, Springfield, Missouri. I. ROLL CALL Tim Shryack, Vice Chair, called the meeting to order at 8:32 a.m. Members Present: Matt Bailey, Phyllis Ferguson, Paula Glossip, Kevin Hogan, Sarah McCallister, Tim Shryack, Vice Chair Members Absent: Scott Bailes, Mike Mellinger, John Price Park Board Staff: Bob Belote, Nick Breithaupt, Jon Carney, Matt Coats, Jenny Cole, Mike Crocker, Jeff Cumley, Jake Dill, Jenny Fillmer Edwards, Karen Herron, Cindy Jobe, Jerry Mitchell, Tom Moore, Miles Park, Jennifer Penning, Kim Reser, Lana Woolsey Guests: Carolyn Gerdes, Springfield Sister Cities Association Dan Smith, Greene County Highway Department II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mr. Kevin Hogan made the motion to approve the minutes from the September 6, 2013, Park Board Meeting, as distributed; seconded by Dr. Sarah McCallister. Motion was approved unanimously. III. INTRODUCTION OF RUTLEDGE-WILSON FARM PARK STAFF Mr. Tom Moore introduced the Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park Staff who work together within the Special Facilities Division to facilitate the activities and events that take place at the Farm. Additionally, there are two employees who handle the maintenance and upkeep at the Farm, but were not present at the meeting. Mr. Moore mentioned that the annual Fall Fest consists of six themed-weekends with a variety of activities such as inflatables, corn cannon, cow train, corn maze, haunted trail, hayrides, live music, and different farm-related demonstrations. Rutledge- Wilson Farm Park will host the Park Board’s Employee Appreciation Picnic on October 27.

Corey Photograph Collection Dates: 1965-1995 Creator: Corey, Raymond E., 1936-1995 Abstract: This collection consists of the photographic work of Raymond Corey, a staff photographer for The Kansas City Star from 1965 to 1980. The collection primarily contains negatives, slides, and photographs produced by Corey in the course of his career with The Kansas City Star. Additionally, there is a scrapbook of newspaper clippings containing the articles in which Corey’s work appeared, and oversize photographic reproductions of his work.
