Temporary Closure of Allerford Road

TAKE NOTICE that in pursuance of Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the County Council of Somerset have made an Order PROHIBITING ALL TRAFFIC from proceeding along Allerford Road from 10m either side of Victory Level Crossing for a distance of 30 metres.

This order will enable Centurion Site Services Ltd to carry out to enable Amey Colas to carry out maintenance works in this road.

The Order becomes effective on 25 January 2014 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The works are expected to last for 11 nights. The road is expected to be closed on the following dates:. 10.00 Sat 25 Jan - 22.00 Sat 1 Feb 14 (Continuous) 22.00 Sat 8 Feb - 08.00 Sun Feb 14 22.00 Mon 17 Feb - 06.00 Tues 18 Feb 14 22.00 Tues 18 Feb - 06.00 Wed 19 Feb 14 22.00 Wed 19 Feb - 06.00 Thurs 20 Feb 14 22.00 Thurs 20 Feb - 06.00 Fri 21 Feb 14 22.00 Sat 22 Feb - 06.00 Sun 23 Feb 14 22.00 Sat 1 Mar - 06.00 Sun 2 March 14 22.00 Sat 8 Mar - 06.00 Sun 9 March 14 22.00 Sat 15 Mar - 06.00 Sun 16 March 14 22.00 Sat 21 Mar - 06.00 Sun 22 March 14. While the closure is in operation an alternative route will be signed as detailed below.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE

From the western end of the closure proceed in a north westerly and then north easterly direction along Allerford Road to the junction with the B3227. Turn right and proceed in an easterly and then north easterly direction along the B3227 to the Cross Keys Roundabout. At the Cross Keys Roundabout take the second exit and proceed in an easterly direction along the A358 to the Silk Mills Roundabout. At the Silk Mills Roundabout take the second exit onto the A3065 and continue in a southerly direction to the junction with Bishops Hull Hill. Turn right and proceed in a north westerly and then a south westerly direction along Bishops Hull Hill and Bishops Hull Road to the junction with Shutewater Hill. Turn right and proceed in westerly, north westerly and south westerly directions along Shutewater Hill, Upcott Road and Allerford Road to the eastern end of the closure, and vice versa.
