Wieninger Wiener Gemischter Satz 2017, Austria / ($20.95) $18.85 Fritz Wieninger is the leading wine producer in the city of Vienna, and the Wiener Gemischte Satz is the most traditional of Viennese wine-growing specialties. Gemischter Satz translates to “mixed set”, and is a traditional field blend of up to 13 varietals that are co-planted and co-fermented. Because this wine consists of many different varieties harvested at the same time, it will include some unripe grapes and some overripe grapes and results in a wide range of aromas and flavors. Lemony citrus notes, herbs and white flowers co-mingle with ripe tropical flavors of melon and pineapple. Fresh acidity and medium weight allow this wine to work well with grilled pork sausages and breaded white fish. Gruner Veltliner, Weissburgunder, Welschriesling, Chardonnay | 92 Points Wine Enthusiast Practicing Biodynamic Domaine De La Bergerie Savennieres Clos Le Grand Beaupreau 2016, France / ($36.95) $33.25 Domaine de la Bergerie has been a family estate since 1964 and is situated Champ-sur-Layon, just south of the Layon river and about a half-hour south of Angers. This wine has a pleasant floral nose, with clean texture. Bright acidity balances the fruit on the palate, with a spicy & mineral finish that lingers for a delightfully savory finish. Chenin Blanc | Organic G.D. Vajra Rosabella Rosato 2018, Italy / ($21.95) $19.75 First produced between 2004 and 2007, Rosabella has a focus on Nebbiolo, with small amounts of Barbera and Dolcetto. Fruit for this wine comes from young estate vineyards located in the villages of Barolo, La Morra, Novello and Serralunga. Floral with fresh strawberries and the very distinctive signature of Nebbiolo welcome you into the glass. The palate is balanced with citrus and a refreshing mineral backbone. Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, Barbera | Sustainable J Christopher J.J. Pinot Noir Willamette 2016, Oregon / ($27.95) $25.15 The J. Christopher winery is located in Oregon’s Northern Willamette Valley, in the Chehalem Mountains AVA. Owned by famed German winemaker Ernst Loosen, it is a small winery that specializes in Pinot Noir made using the traditional methods of Burgundy. This vintage is a fruit-forward, easy-drinking Pinot Noir that’s perfect for everyday enjoyment. Pinot Noir | Biodynamic Valpolicella Classico Superiore 'Camporenzo' Monte dall'Ora 2016, Italy / ($33.95) $30.55 The Camporenzo vineyard is essentially the family's "backyard", three hectares planted in rolling San Pietro hills behind their house. The fruit is hand-harvested in the first part of October into small bins, crushed and placed in wooden vats, where they are foot-trodden once a day. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. On the nose, this wine displays perfumes of red fruits, such as cherries, as well as hints of hay and spices, and closes on a vanilla note. The flavor echoes the sensations on the nose, whilst maintaining a somewhat traditional, well-defined style. The wine has a delicious complexity and structure about it. 40 Corvina, 30 Corvinone, 20 Rondinella, 10 Oseleta & Molinara | Biodynamic Vigneto Saetti 'RossoViola' Lambrusco 2018, Italy / ($21.95) $19.75 Luciano Saetti produces this lively Lambrusco, vinified completely without additives. It has a deep ruby color with a nose redolent of brambly red berries, dried violets, delicate hints of sweet spices, and a slight meaty tone. The wine is more frothy than it is fully sparkling, with a velvety texture cut by bright acidity with a slight tannic bite. On its own, it shows more overtly floral and quite juicy but, as a good Lambrusco should, it shines with food. Try it with charcuterie, pasta bolognese, pizza, or as a match to any rich dish. Lambrusco Salamino | Organic *10% discount on all tasting wines. Tasting discount may not be combined with any other discounts. .
