Hi Jenny, Please find a copy of our email to our distribution list regarding next week’s workshop sessions for your information, with the main points below for ease. “A series of workshops are to be held next week to discuss the Roath Brook flood scheme which Natural Resources Wales (NRW) is creating in the area. There is an opportunity for you to discuss the scheme directly with the people who are delivering it and get answers to any questions you may have. NRW will also provide a brief presentation about: the background to the scheme why it’s needed what different options were considered how contractors are managing the impact of the work on wildlife what NRW is doing to save as many trees in the area as possible The workshops are being held after talks between NRW and the Roath Brook Trees campaign group. NRW has paused tree felling to allow discussions with the local community take place. The sessions are expected to last between an hour to an hour-and-a-half and will be held at Pen- y-Lan Library and Community Centre on: Tuesday 23 January at 10:00, 1:00, 3:00 and 6:00 Wednesday 24 January at 10:00, 2:00 and 4:00. There is capacity for up to 20 people to attend every session and people are asked to register in advance by emailing [email protected] . Due to the limited number of spaces available, it might not be possible for people who haven’t registered for a specific session to attend. Please register and come along. We’d love to explain the scheme’s background to you and hear your views.” Regards

Ive spoken to and he’s outlined to me some of the finer points… By Wednesday night we need to have taken a decision on whether we are going ahead with a public meeting. I suggest Feb 1st as working option so my office can get a venue booked. Look forward to further information in due course. Your offer to facilitate or chair a meeting is appreciated. I suggest we take stock following our workshops next week. NRW would be pleased to attend and participate in answering any technical questions. Trees 52 and 72 were felled yesterday, in agreement. We have now postponed tree felling this week, and for Monday to Wednesday next week. We had a productive meeting with the campaign group yesterday to discuss the meeting and the feeling amongst the community. We agreed that further engagement was merited and may benefit the community, so we are arranging a series of workshops on Monday to Wednesday next week (hence the tree felling cessation). We are happy to undertake a public meeting also as you suggest (I am available on 29th and 1st), but felt that a workshop setting, with a limited number of people per session, would be most productive. And we are keen to reach a resolution so we can continue tree felling through agreement. What are your thoughts on this approach please? Regards

What then is your strategy? Have you gone ahead with felling the two trees 52 and 72 yesterday anyway as on perimeter and need felling anyway? If not why not? I suggest we need to have a proper public meeting with all relevant residents informed rather than those who use social media every day. I will Chair the meeting as long as NRW will be there to answer the technical questions people continue to raise. Mondays and Thursdays best days for me. This coming Monday too soon and even the Thursday a stretch. What is your availability on Mon Jan 29th or Thursday Feb 1st? Once we’ve sorted a date, I can book a room and organise the leafletting that will be required.
