  • Cricket Memorabilia Society Postal Auction Closing at Noon 10
CRICKET MEMORABILIA SOCIETY POSTAL AUCTION CLOSING AT NOON 10th JULY 2020 Conditions of Postal Sale The CMS reserves the right to refuse items which are damaged or unsuitable, or we have doubts about authenticity. Reserves can be placed on lots but must be agreed with the CMS. They should reflect realistic values/expectations and not be the “highest price” expected. The CMS will take 7% of the price realised, the vendor 93% which will normally be paid no later than 6 weeks after the auction. The CMS will undertake to advertise the memorabilia for auction on its website no later than 3 weeks prior to the closing date of the auction. Bids will only be accepted from CMS members. Postal bids must be in writing or e-mail by the closing date and time shown above. Generally, no item will be sold below 10% of the lower estimate without reference to the vendor.. Thus, an item with a £10-15 estimate can be sold for £9, but not £8, without approval. The incremental scale for the acceptance of bids is as follows: £2 increments up to £20, then £20/22/25/28/30 up to £50, then £5 increments to £100 and £10 increments above that. So, if there are two postal bids at £25 and £30, the item will go to the higher bidder at £28. Should there be two identical bids, the first received will win. Bids submitted between increments will be accepted, thus a £52 bid will not be rounded either up or down. Items will be sent to successful postal bidders the week after the auction and will be sent by the cheapest rate commensurate with the value and size of the item.

  • Staying in Tune It Isn't Often That the Rotary International President Elect Comes Visiting
Vol. 59 No. 41 • April 17, 2018 • Pages 8 President’s Pick Dear friends, Staying in Tune It isn't often that the Rotary International President Elect comes visiting. And it isn't often that our Club's member is felicitated by the Rotary International president Elect, and that too right here in sunny Mumbai. And so April 6th. was a special day for us. A day when our Trustee and Past President Arvind Jolly was felicitated by Barry Rassin (President Elect R.I.) on his becoming an Arch Klumph Member. For those who came in late, this is a distinction conferred on a member who has contributed at least USD 2,50,000/- to the movement, and is named after the sixth President of Rotary International. Congratulations to Arvind. He truly is such a fine gentleman and jolly good person (sorry I couldn't resist that pun). And now let's read what he himself had to say about his special day. Regards, Ramesh Narayan "The experience was most enjoyable and certainly Rashmi and I would have very fond memories of this event for years to come. Everything was just perfect, there were some initial hiccups but then everything got better and better. he Tuesday meeting began not with a Our District Governor, Prafull Sharma speaker as is typical, but a technical glitch along with our President Ramesh Narayan and Vice President that made the experience of singing the Vijay Jatia worked really hard to make the event very special T and memorable. national anthem a little more heroic, for we had to keep in tune without being guided by the backing We were lucky to hold the event in the Ball Room of the Taj Palace.

  • Indian Cinema in the Time of Celluloid : from Bollywood to the Emergency
Bollywood reality as freak show. Shilpa Gupta, The Bigg Boss Series - Stills from a Reality Show (digital photograph, 2007). 'BOLLYWOOD' 2004 The Globalized Freak Show of What Used to Be Cinema "1^ > othing in the hugely marketed hype of the 'Indian Summer' of London, 2002, was more characteristic of the season than the 'recreation' of movie star Dimple Kapadia's Bombay home on the ground floor of the London department store Selfridges, by designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. But then these were not normal times. An event that might well have seen Dimple's straight rise to the dimensions of a present-day Lola Montes, with crowds ogling at simulations of her living spaces, was here no more than an announcement of 'Bollywood at Selfridges, May 2002', to be attended by Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and Dimple Kapadia. The event jostled for media coverage with a series, through the year, of other crowd-pulling shows: 'ImagineASIA' (April) at the British Film Institute, launching 'an 8-month-long, nationwide celebration of South Asian cinema. Screenings, exhibi- tions, books and talks galore!'; the 'Bombay Dreams Week' (June) to 'celebrate Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's production of A.R. 3 May 2002: Star Mansion. A lot of students face problems in the General Awareness / Business Awareness / General Knowledge section of MBA entrance exams like XAT, IIFT, and SNAP. That happens because they start "preparing" for it once they are done with their Quant, LR/DI and Verbal prep (sometimes even after CAT) - which is often too late. Ideally, no one should have to prepare for something like General Awareness. But sadly, we don't live in an ideal world. And even those, who try to prepare with the help of websites, news services, etc. suffer from too much information. They cannot filter the relevant information and often give up on GK all-together. It should not be that way. Even if you can devote just 3 hours a week to GK from now on, you will be very well placed when the time comes. It doesn't take much because you don't need a high score to clear the cutoff. The problem is most students are so blissfully unaware about what is going on in the world and clearing the cutoff is not that big a deal. Just do an experiment, next time you are in a group of students preparing for Management Entrance exams, ask them - "Who is the Vice President of India?" You will get what I am talking about. As a first step, you need to know what actually gets asked in the exam and you can find that in the PDF. You will find 6 past year GK papers (with answers) in this PDF. Version : 6.1 They are: IIFT 2012 IIFT 2013 IIFT 2014 IIFT 2015 IIFT 2016 IIFT 2017 And for more, you can have a look at my GK course available here: https://handakafunda.com/gk-general-knowledge-xat-iift-snap If you have any more questions about the course, please send me an email on [email protected] or call me on 09765142632.

  • For One Year. C
Volume : 44 Issue No. : 44 Month : March, 2004 "When everything comes your way, you're in the wrong lane." EFFORTS TO RECONCILE DIFFERENCES IN STHANAKVASI SECT GO FUTILE The differences primarily between Shri Roopmuniji M. S. and Acharya Shivmuni over the disciplinary action are causing embarrassment to the entire sect of Sthankawasi Jain Samaj. Several members of samaj have requested both saints to reconcile and settle the issues. Jodhpur Jain Samaj took a strong delegation to Acharya Ji and informed that unless these differences get settled they will be unable to organise any chaturmas for anyone. The present scenario is threatening the existence of Shraman Sangh. The differences are further widened by nomination of M.S. Sri Umesh Muni as Acharya of Sraman Sangh replacing Dr. Shiv Muniji. We on behalf of Jain Samaj request all involved and respected leaders of Shraman Sangh to resolve various issues at the earliest. The five Jain principles offer solutions to all the the problems in the world. In fact it is the best time for our saints to prove the meaning and usefulness of these very basics of Jainism. Spiritual resolutions will not only keep the Shraman Sangh strong but also set example to other Jain institutions where similar situations prevail at different levels. JAIN COMMUNITY DECLARED AS MINORITY IN MAHARASHTRA The Government of Maharashtra in its Cabinet meeting held on the 2nd Jainsamaj Matrimonial February, 2004, passed the proposal to declare Jains in Maharashtra to be a minority community and issue necessary notification to that effect in the Database Government Gazette. The news has brought a wave of happiness in most circles For widest matrimonial of Jain community in the state.
