User's Guide to WDAM Radio's History of Buddy Holly & the Crickets
User's Guide To WDAM Radio's History Of Buddy Holly & The Crickets Preface To The 2020 Edition This across-four-decades-and-two-centuries-long work-in-progress now has been converted to MP3. This new version is expanded from the most recent edition (2009) and contains even more hit and significant non-hit covers of Buddy Holly “solo” and Buddy Holly & The recordings ... as well as newly discovered Buddy Holly "salute" songs, interviews, and recorded historical artifacts that WDAM Radio has identified and acquired. The Collection Congratulations! You now own every hit record ever recorded by Buddy Holly (and/or records on which Buddy appeared as a back-up singer/musician) in both the United States and the United Kingdom. It also includes all charted hits by the Crickets [including all of their many United Kingdom hits, too!] after Buddy's death, as well as their remaining discography. All are in chronological order! .... or at least, sort of. You'll also enjoy original versions of songs that were later re-made into hits by Holly...plus every other artists' hit covers [including those that were only hits in the United Kingdom] of Holly originals ever recorded...plus almost all of those glorious "Buddy Holly death-salute" songs (along with similar tributes to J.P. Richardson and Ritchie Valens). It's the only collection of its kind this side ... or any side of Lubbock, Texas; Clovis, New Mexico; New York City; or Clear Lake, Iowa. (If you know the history of Buddy Holly, you will know why those locations were chosen.) Every release on single 45's (or 78's) is followed by the highest position reached in Billboard magazine and the year. -

Abstract: This thesis returns love to the purview of Marxism and punk, which had attempted to ban the interpersonal in respective critiques of abstractions. Love-as-sense—as it is figured by Marx— will be distinguished from the love-of-love-songs, and from commodity fetishism and alienation, which relate to this recuperated love qua perception or experience. As its musical output exhibited residue of free love’s failure, and cited sixties pop which characterized love as mutual ownership, American and British punk from 1976-80 will be analyzed for its interrogation of commodified love. An introductory chapter will define love as an aesthetic activity and organize theoretical and musical sources according to the prominence of the body. -

At that time I wasn’t sure what the outcome would be nor how difficult the journey. Thinking it would make an interesting and alternative style senior project I looked, unsuccessfully. I put the idea aside, concerned that opportunities for firsthand knowledge of the early years were fading. I don’t remember how, but by some means I discussed the concept with former board President and longtime member Amie Kulak. She liked the idea, had a real interest in the project and liked to write. We agreed this would cover her 3 hours of maintenance and I gave her access to boxes of records. Little did either of us know how much work this would be. -
Early Atco Albums (1957-1962)
The Atco Records Lyre Albums Pressed between 1957 and 1962 By Frank Daniels Atlantic 1266 New Orleans Blues Wilbur de Paris and Jimmy Witherspoon First appearance in trade magazines: September 9, 1957 Although Witherspoon released singles on Atco, although Atco announced in early January that Witherspoon would be releasing an album on that label, and although de Paris and Witherspoon had recorded all ten songs prior to the initial announcement, when the album finally appeared in shops eight months later, it was on the Atlantic label. So, it appears that the first Atco LP was on Atlantic.
