PULITZER PRIZE-WINNING EDITOR CORY HAIK JOINS VICE MEDIA AS CHIEF DIGITAL OFFICER

Haik to lead VICE Media’s global digital audience and platform growth strategy

May 21, 2019 - , NY -- VICE Media is adding to ​ its executive leadership team Pulitzer Prize-winning editor and former Publisher of , Cory Haik, as Chief Digital ​ ​ Officer.

Starting today, Haik will be a strategic leader across VICE’s global digital business and bring together, under a unified vision, the many teams that work across the company’s editorial, video, distribution, product and audience teams to maximize VICE’s power in the digital space. As Chief Digital Officer, she will focus on global audience growth and development, platform partnerships and digital product innovation, building on VICE’s global audience reach of over 300 million unique monthly users.

Following the launch of the new vice.com earlier this month, Haik will play a pivotal role in further elevating VICE’s authority as the world’s leading youth media brand by ensuring its award-winning editorial content, including news, informs and entertains the widest audience possible. While VICE Digital continues to see record growth on its platforms, including YouTube with over 30 million subscribers, Haik’s leadership will find expanded partnerships and reach for the 1,500 pieces of content made in 25 languages every day throughout the VICE ecosystem.

Haik will be based in VICE’S Brooklyn headquarters and will report to CEO, Nancy Dubuc.

Haik was most recently the Publisher of millennial-focused news organization, Mic. ​ ​ Previously, she helped grow the digital platforms for The Washington Post while also ​ ​ leading innovative initiatives under Jeff Bezos as Executive Director, Emerging News Products. Cory began her digital publishing career following the storms of the Gulf Coast at ​ NOLA.com, site of The Times-Picayune in New Orleans, where she was the Managing ​ ​ Editor. She shared in two Pulitzer Prizes with The Times-Picayune for the staff coverage of ​ ​ Hurricane Katrina, for breaking news and public service in 2006. At The Seattle Times she ​ ​ also shared in a staff Pulitzer in 2010 for the coverage of police officer shootings. Cory holds a Masters of Arts in Communication Theory from the University of New Orleans.
