MEMBERSHIP SUBSCRIPTIONS 2012/13

I am writing to inform you that your TCGC membership subscription for the 2012/13 season will become due for payment shortly.

We have been advised by the owners/developers of the Taymouth Estate that the Taymouth Castle golf course may be available for play in June. As the current arrangement to play at Aberfeldy expires on 31 March, I am pleased to inform you that the Club has reached an agreement with Aberfeldy GC to extend access to their course until 31 May 2012. It is hoped that by early May the timing of, and arrangements for, our return to the Taymouth Castle golf course will be known.

In setting the level of membership subscriptions your Committee has to ensure they cover the Club’s anticipated expenditure for the year. For the coming season this therefore means not only having to take account of the Club’s normal running costs but also a forecast for unknown costs associated with possibly playing at the Taymouth Castle course during part of the season. Therefore given the uncertainties surrounding the Club’s return to the Taymouth Castle golf course it is possible that an additional subscription may be required from members later in the year if the forecast amount of charges exceeds the Club’s budget.

Additionally, in line with the changes to the Club’s structure approved at the Special General Meeting held on 26 September 2011, this season sees changes to the categories of membership of the Club. Details of the categories of membership are set out in the Club’s new Constitution a pdf file of which accompanies this emailed letter.

Subscription fees for each category of membership for the 2012/13 season are as follows - Ordinary £350 - Intermediate £150 - Junior £35 - Life £POA - Non-playing £50.

As a consequence of the surplus on membership charges during the 2011/12 season I am pleased to inform you that the subscription fee for renewing an existing Ordinary membership for the 2012/13 season has been reduced to £200.

Membership subscriptions are due for payment on 1 April 2012 and no play on the course will be permitted until payment of the appropriate fee has been received. Please complete the remittance slip below and return it to me together with your cheque for the appropriate amount.

You may have noticed that the Club’s website has recently undergone some changes. As modifications had to be made to bring the website in line with the Club’s new governance structure the opportunity was taken to refresh it and make some improvements – new fixture list page, improved visibility of updates and scrolling news - all of which and more I hope will enhance your use of the site. The site will shortly also contain details of the Club’s new Standing Orders and a list of the dates of scheduled meetings of the Club’s Committee.

As ever I recommend that you visit the Club’s website at www.taymouthcastlegolfclub.com on a frequent basis in order to keep up-to-date with news, developments, fixtures and all matters relating to your Club which will be posted on the Members’ Page – access to which will need the password 11footputt which remains valid until 1 April. A new 2012 password for the Members’ Page will be sent to you along with your 2012/13 membership card.

The Club’s season opening event the Captain versus Vice-Captain team match will be held on Sunday 25 March at 09:30. Traditionally this has been two separate events for the Ladies’ and Men’s Sections, however this season in recognition of TCGC being a unified club we are breaking with tradition (and hopefully starting a new one) as there will be a single mixed event to which all members are invited to participate – just turn up and all will be explained.

The Club’s annual dinner will be held on 30 March at 7pm in the Kenmore Hotel when our guest speaker will be Jenny McGahan, who will share her experiences of being an R&A rules official. Tickets are £30 per person and all members and their guests are welcome to attend what is always a very enjoyable evening. Please let me know by 20 March if you wish to attend.

This year’s TCGC Toerags Tour will be held on 19-21 April, when we will play three of Northumberland’s finest links at the Goswick, Bamburgh Castle and Dunstanburgh Castle courses. The price of £222 includes golf, and two night’s dinner, bed and breakfast at the Beach House Hotel, Seahouses. If you are interested in participating please let me know by 6 April.

The Men’s Outing to Monifeith Golf Club will be held on 2 August when we will play a morning round on the Championship course and an afternoon round on the Ashludie course. Catering for the day will comprise coffee/bacon roll on arrival, soup/sandwich lunch and a two course meal in the evening. The cost of the Outing will be £79 - if you wish to attend please complete the slip below and return it to me along with your deposit of £15.

Finally, below is a programme of inter-club matches (Men, Ladies and Men’s Seniors), please complete this as appropriate to indicate those relevant to you for which you are not available and return the form to me along with your subscription renewal.
