DISTRICT PROFILE SHEOHAR INTRODUCTION
Sheohar district came into existence in the year 1994, before which it was a part of Sitamarhi district. Sheohar district is a part of Tirhut division. Sheohar district is surrounded by the districts of Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi and East Champaran. The main rivers flowing through the district are Bagmati and Budhi Gandak . It is the smallest district of Bihar and the second least populous district of Bihar after Sheikhpura.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
This district was carved out of Sitamarhi district on October 6, 1994.
