No player or coach interviews will be granted without prior arrangement through the sports information director. Media guides, game programs, statistics, game notes, flip cards and a pregame meal will be available to working media in the press box on game days. Only credential media will be allowed access to press box seating. Seats will be reserved for media requesting credentials with priority given to outlets regularly covering UMHB and its opponents. Game statistics will be provided to working media and coaching staffs at halftime and the end of the game. Complete stat packages, including play-by-play will be available approximately 15 minutes after the end of the game. There are phone lines available at Crusader Stadium, but prior arrangement should be made by media needing use of those phone lines. Visiting radio is encouraged to call the UMHB Office of Sports Information two weeks ahead of time to make arrangements. A member of the sports information staff will escort members of the media to the interview room for interviews following the game. UMHB coaches and requested players are available in the interview room following the 10-minute cooling off period. Visiting players and coaches will also be available for interviews with the visiting SID typically handling those requests. Special requests for postgame interviews should be addressed to the UMHB sports information staff ahead of time. During the week, UMHB players and coaches are available for interviews prior to group meetings before prac- tice on Tuesday and Wednesday. All interviews will be conducted at the Andersen Field House and should be arranged through the UMHB Office of Sports Information at least 24 hours in advance. Special interview requests, including phone interviews, must be arranged through the sports information director. Requests for Game Day credentials should be addressed to Jon Wallin, UMHB Sports Information Director. They may be faxed on company letterhead to (254) 295-4274 or mailed to UMHB Sports Information Office, UMHB Box 8010, 900 College Street, Belton, TX 76513. Requests should be made at least one week in advance. The Cru on the Radio All UMHB football games during the 2018 season will be broadcast on KLTD 101.7 FM. KLTD is a part of the Townsquare network of stations in Central Texas. Jon Wallin is in his sixth season as play-by-play voice of The Cru. Wallin is in his 20th year as the Sports Information Direc- tor at UMHB and will also continue to handle the day-to-day operations of the UMHB Sports Information Office.W allin was voted ASC Sports Information Director of the Year for the 2009-10 school year. He has also provided play-by-play for UMHB men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and softball during his career. The Baylor graduate also spent nearly eight years at KXXV-TV in Waco, working in sports, news and weather. He was the weeknight sports anchor for his last three years in television. Wallin is joined in the booth by former UMHB offensive coordinator George Haffner. Haffner spent seven years as the Cru’s offensive coordinator before retiring in 2006. UMHB set every major school offensive record during Haffner’s tenure. Coach Haffner also spent 31 years in Division I, including stops at Georgia, Pittsburgh, Florida State, Iowa State, LSU and Texas A&M. He coached Herschel Walker during Walker’s Heisman Trophy season at Georgia. UMHB Administration Dr. Randy O’Rear, University President Randy O’Rear became the 22nd president of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor when he assumed the office on June 1, 2009. O’Rear was named President and CEO of the university in a unanimous decision by the school’s Board of Trustees in September 2008. Dr. O’Rear is the first of president of UMHB who is also an alumnus of the university. He graduated from UMHB with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1988 and earned an MBA from UMHB in 1997. O’Rear earned a doctoral degree in Higher Education from Baylor University in 2004. O’Rear has served at UMHB since 1988, most recently as executive vice president and chief operating officer. For more than 18 years, O’Rear has been actively involved in fundraising for the university. Under his leadership, gifts and grants dramatically increased, numerous endowed scholarships were established and major capital projects were completed, including the construction of the Parker Academic Center, the Mayborn Campus Center, the Meyer Christian Studies Center and the Crusader Stadium Complex. O’Rear has also strong ties to the UMHB athletic department. He was also a two-year letterman for the UMHB baseball program as a right-handed pitcher. O’Rear held the school record for wins in a season for five years before that mark was broken in 1992. He also spent one year as a student assistant coach and two years as a full-time assistant coach for the Cru baseball team. Originally from Waco, O’Rear is a graduate of Robinson High School. He and his wife, Julie, have three children, Ryan, Taylor and Reed. Taylor and her husband, John, a former UMHB soccer standout, have a son, James Randal. Reed is married to former UMHB basketball player Jesslyn Poole. The O’Rears live in Belton and are members of First Baptist Church, Belton. Randy Mann, Vice President For Athletics Randy Mann was promoted to Vice-President for Athletics in May of 2012 after serving as full-time Associate Athletic Director for four years. He spent the previous eight years serving as head men’s golf coach and associate AD. Coach Mann guided the Cru to the American Southwest Conference championship in 2008 and closed out his coaching career by guiding the Cru to the first NCAA Division III National Tournament berth in the program’s history.
