Raiders 33, Colts 25  The Raiders defeated the Colts by a score of 33-25, and gave the Raiders a record of 12-3 for the first time since 2000, when the team advanced to the AFC Championship game after finishing the season 12-4.  By beating the Colts, the Raiders ended a four-game skid against Indianapolis, with their previous win coming on Oct. 14, 2001.  The Silver and Black improved their all-time record against Indianapolis to 8-6 with today’s victory.  The victory assures the Raiders will maintain possession of first place in the AFC West through Week 16, as the second-place Chiefs will play on Christmas day at home against the Broncos.  The victory improves Oakland’s home record in 2016 to 6-2, a mark that ties the most home wins in a season since 2002.

Game Themes  RB DeAndré Washington scores two times and totaled over 100 yards in the victory.  The Raiders’ defense pitched a scoreless first quarter for the seventh time this season.  Four different Raiders scored in the victory while the defense racked up three takeaways.

QB Derek Carr  On the opening play of the second quarter, QB Derek Carr capped a 12-play, 54-yard drive by tossing his 26th pass of the year to WR Andre Holmes. The drive lasted 7:12 and resulted in the game’s first points of the game.  Carr’s second touchdown toss of the day, a 5-yard score to TE Clive Walford, came with 5:55 left to play in the opening half and polished off an eight-play, 79-yard drive lasting 3:59 that was highlighted by a 35-yard pass to WR Michael Crabtree.

Dec. 24, 2016  Carr tossed his third touchdown in the first half, the second time doing so in his career, by finding RB Jalen Richard for a 4-yard score. The Raiders’ third score of the day was the result of a 6-play, 80-yard drive and gave the Raiders a 19-7 lead at the half.  Carr passed Jeff Hostetler for seventh most passing yards in franchise history on his 4-yard toss to Richard, and also became just the second quarterback since 1950 to have two seasons with at least 350 completions through their first three years in the league.  Carr’s passer rating of 122.6 marks the 13th time in his career and sixth time this season he has surpassed a passer rating of 100.0. With his sixth such game this season, Carr moves into a tie for third most in franchise history.  Carr left the game in the fourth quarter with an injury, and finished 20-of-30 for 228 yards, three and no (122.6 passer rating.)

WR Michael Crabtree  WR Michael Crabtree became the fourth Raider with multiple 80-catch seasons, joining Tim Brown, Jerry Rice and Todd Christensen with his third reception of the day, a 35-yard catch in the second quarter.  On that same catch, Crabtree reached 900 yards on the season to make him and WR the first Raiders duo with 900 receiving yards in back-to-back seasons since Tim Brown and Jerry Rice in 2001-02.  Crabtree finished with seven receptions for 90 yards (12.9 avg.).

WR Andre Holmes  WR Andre Holmes hauled in a 1-yard pass from QB Derek Carr in the end zone to give the Raiders their first lead of the game on the first play in the second quarter.  His receiving touchdown ties Marcel Reece for the second most receiving touchdowns by an undrafted Raider with 12 while marking his his third of the season.  Holmes finished with three receptions for 33 yards (11.0 avg.) in addition to his touchdown.

TE Clive Walford  On second-and-1 from the Colts’ 5-yard line, TE Clive Walford hauled in his second reception of the day, this one in the end zone that gave the Raiders a seven-point lead over Indianapolis.  Walford’s six career receiving touchdowns are the fourth most by a Raiders tight end in his first two seasons, behind Raymond Chester (14), Rickey Dudley (11) and (8).  Walford finished with finished with two receptions for 20 yards (10.0) in addition to his touchdown reception.

RB DeAndré Washington  On the Raiders’ opening possession of the second half, RB DeAndré Washington carried the load for the offense as he accounted for 41 yards en route to a 22-yard rushing touchdown, his first career score.  Following the Raiders’ third takeaway of the game, Washington powered through the line for his second 22-yard touchdown to give the Raiders a 33-7 lead.  Washington is the first Raiders rookie to rush for two touchdowns in a game since Darren McFadden did so on Nov. 23, 2008.  Washington finished with 99 yards on 12 carries (8.3 avg.) while also hauling in one reception for 18 yards.

Dec. 24, 2016 RB Jalen Richard  With 22 seconds left in the first half, QB Derek Carr found RB Jalen Richard for a 4-yard touchdown pass.  The touchdown marked Richard’s second receiving touchdown of the season and third overall.  Richard rushed six times for 66 yards (11.0 avg.) and added three receptions for 13 yards (4.3 avg.).

S Nate Allen  On 1st-and-10 from the their own 43-yard line, Andrew Luck was pressured by DT Dan Williams and delivered an errant pass into the waiting arms of S Nate Allen, who returned it four yards to the Oakland 46-yard line..  Allen finished second on the team with seven tackles, one for a loss, in addition to his and pass defensed.

S Reggie Nelson  On 2nd-and-10 from Oakland’s 29-yard line, Andrew Luck tossed his second interception of the day, as S Reggie Nelson brought down his fifth interception of the season in the end zone.  His seven takeaways lead the NFL this season amongst all safeties and are tied second most overall.  Nelson finished with three tackles in addition to his pass defensed and interception.

CB TJ Carrie  Following a second-half opening score, CB TJ Carrie found a loose ball forced by LB Malcolm Smith to earn his second takeaway of the season. The Raiders capitalized on the takeaway by scoring just three plays later.  Carrie finished with five tackles in addition to his recovery.

LB Malcolm Smith  On the Colts opening drive of the second half, LB Malcolm Smith punched the ball out of Frank Gore’s possession, marking his second forced fumble of the year.  Smith has now recorded a forced fumble in three straight seasons.  Smith finished as the team’s leading tackler, making eight stops in addition to his forced fumble.

Other Notables  LB Daren Bates o During the Colts’ second drive of the game, a fake field goal attempt was stuffed as Bates hit Pat McAfee short of the line to gain and caused a fumble in the process.  DE Mario Edwards Jr. o Made his first appearance of the season, serving as a rotational player on the defensive line.  DT Darius Latham o Made his first career star.  QB Matt McGloin o Replaced QB Derek Carr early in the fourth quarter after exiting with an injury. o Finished 2-of-3 for 29 yards, including a key 19-yard pass to WR Amari Cooper on third down to seal the game for the Silver and Black.
