County Council Temporary Traffic Restrictions (Parishes of and ) (Temporary 20mph & 30mph Speed Limits and Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2019

Somerset County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended and after giving notice to the Chief Officer of Police, hereby makes the following Order: -

This Order will come into operation on the 22nd day of October 2019 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The effect of which will be to introduce a Temporary 20mph Speed Limit on the roads specified in the schedule 1 to this Order, to introduce a Temporary 30mph Speed Limit on the roads specified in the schedule 2 to this Order and to introduce a Temporary Prohibition of vehicles on the roads specified in the schedule 3 to this Order

The restrictions will only apply when indicated by traffic signs.

Schedule 1 Temporary 20mph Speed Limit

Hillside, From its junction with Cypress Drive to its junction Puriton with A39 Puriton Hill.

Woolavington Road From a point 60 metres east of its junction with Puriton Puriton Park to a point 240 metres west of its junction with East Approach Road

Schedule 2 Temporary 30mph Speed Limit

A39 Glastonbury Road From its junction with A39 Dunball Interchange Roundabout in and Puriton Hill, a South-Easterly direction for a distance of 1300 metres. Puriton

Schedule 3 Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles

Puriton Hill, From its junction with A39 Glastonbury Road for a Puriton distance of 150 metres in north westerly direction

Statement of reasons for making the Order

a) Because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; or b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.

Somerset County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended and after giving notice to the Chief Officer of Police, hereby makes the following order:

1. This Order will come into operation on the 22nd day of October 2019 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The restrictions will only apply when indicated by traffic signs.

2. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 20 miles per hour on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 to this Order.

3. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 2 to this Order.

4. Save as provided in Article 5 of this Order no person shall cause or permit any motor vehicle to enter, proceed or wait along the lengths of road specified in schedule 3 to this Order.

5. Nothing in Articles 2, 3 and 4 of this Order will apply to:

(i) Anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police officer in uniform; (ii) Police, Fire and Ambulance emergency service vehicles. (iii) Vehicles falling within regulation 3(1), 3(2), 3(3) and 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011(a) when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations.

This Order may be cited as Somerset County Council Somerset County Council Temporary Traffic Restrictions (Parishes of Puriton and Bawdrip) (Temporary 20mph & 30mph Speed Limits and Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2019
