The Blue Raiders lost their ope ner to rival Tennessee State 27-0, and then last Sa turday dropped a 27-0 decisi on to Gulf South Conference power UT-Martin, a future Eagle opponent. Future non-conference opponents for MTSU are Delaware and UT-Chattanooga. AII-OVC fullback Mike Moore has rushed for 186 yards in the first two games of 1977, including a 110-yard performance against UT-Martin. Defense has been a problem for Coach Ben Hurt as UT-Martin rolled up 442 yards in total offense . Leading tacklers for the Blue Raiders have been Mo and Reggie Bell. Music SOCK IT TO ' EM is heard as the band comes broadsi de across the field and the Fi ghtin' Eagle struts his stuff. A "Block M " is made to the west side of the field in tune with the FIGHT SONG. A contemporary arrangement of AMERICA brings the band into formation for the ALMA MATER, the Invocation, and THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER. The band then moves to the north end of the field, forming a tunnel for the entrance of the Eagles to the strains o f the FIGHT SONG .

Halftime Show The theme for the halftime show is " The W ide, Wide World of Music" with selections chosen from a vari ety of musical fields. The band enters to STRIKE UP THE BAND and quickly begins MISTY, a work by the late jazz pianist Erroll Garner, featuring twirler Tammy Jo Worthington. Next comes music from television and sports as the line of twirlers perform to the W IDE WORLD OF SPORTS THEME. The big band sound is heard as the band salutes Duke Ellington with selections from CARAVAN while spelling out D-U-K-E. From that formation the band slips into E-L -V-I-S and sa lutes the king of rock and roll. Music from the broadway stage fills Jayne Stadium with a salute to Zero Mostel and selections from FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. The band leaves the field to the rousing strains of a march.
