Matt Griffin, Ovens, Co Cork and formerly Lerrig, Ardfert. Saint Benedict (480 – 547) – Feast Day: 11th July Masses for week commencing Sunday 11 July – St Brendan’s Church, Ardfert Saint Benedict is one of the six Patron Saints of Europe. The others are the two Sun 11.00 am Lily & Sonny Harris, Ardrahan (38th & 31st annivs) brothers from Thessalonika in Greece, Cyril (825 – 869) and Methodius (826 – 885), Mon 10.00 am Rita Caball, Ashe Street, (26th anniv) and her husband Bridget of Sweden (1303 – 1373), Catherine of Siena in Italy (1347 – 1380) and the Ned and son Bobby German Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross or Edith Stein (1891 – 1942). The Feast Tues 10.00 am Day of Saint Cyril and Saint Methodius is 14th February, that of Saint Bridget of Tues 12 noon Requiem Mass for Mark Lenihan, Casement’s View Sweden 23rd July, that of Saint Catherine of Siena 29th April and that of Saint Teresa Weds 10.00 am Andy and Jane Crean-Lynch, Clash East, Tralee (Wedding Benedicta of the Cross 9th August. Anniversary Remembrance) Saint Benedict (480 – 547) and his twin sister Saint Scholastica (480 – 543) are Thurs 10.00 am Special Intention believed to have been born into a wealthy family in Norcia in the region of Umbria in Fri 10.00 am Mass for all the People of the Parish Italy around the year 480. He received a very good education in Rome. He was abbot of Ardfert 11 am: Fidelma Cronin this monastery until his death on 21st March 547. Monte Cassino became the focal

point for western monasticism. The monks there followed the Rule of Saint Benedict All Masses are now live-streamed.
