American League East Draft Tendencies Abstract This study examined the drafting practices of teams in the American League East Division and the business implications that correspond to these results. Each team has their own drafting strategy and by analyzing this you will gain a better understanding as to why certain decisions are made. The research explored the relationship between teams in the American League East with regards to when and how to draft players. To answer this question an analysis of each of these five team’s draft picks from 1998-2007 was completed by comparing each draftee by point of entry and round drafted in. The results show a clear correlation for each team in regards to the round a type of player was drafted and the position they play.

Gateway Economic Development Corporation of Greater Cleveland (Gateway) was formed in 1990 by the City of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County, for the purposes of financing, building, owning and operating the Gateway Sports Complex in downtown Cleveland. Gateway owns Quicken Loans Arena, as well as Progressive Field and surrounding common areas, including Gateway Plaza along Ontario Avenue. Gateway’s lease agreements with the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Cavaliers, as revised and extended in 2004 and 2007, facilitate Gateway’s ability to continue as a good steward of these two tremendous buildings, as it has been for a generation. The leases with the Indians and the Cavaliers require the teams to pay for operating and maintenance costs of their respective facilities, many of the capital repair costs, as well as all of the cost of operating the Gateway Corporation. Gateway’s responsibilities – pursuant to a budget agreed upon annually with the teams and financed by team rental payments - include common area maintenance, insurance, security, and oversight of the maintenance and capital repairs of the ballpark and the arena, ensuring that Gateway’s facilities are maintained to guarantee their long-term viability.

    Executive Report to the Board of Trustees • February 24, 2010 CSM ALUM &GIANTS ANNOUNCER JON MILLER RECEIVES HALL OF FAME HONOR; VISITS CSM Major League Baseball Announcer and CSM Alum Jon Miller, who started his broadcasting career by announcing CSM baseball, football and basketball games, is headed to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. Also known as the “Voice of the Giants,” Miller is the 2010 recipient of the prestigious Ford C. Frick Award, presented annually to recognize excellence in baseball broadcasting. In addition to calling the play‐by‐play for the San Francisco Giants since 1997, Miller has also announced games for the Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers and the Oakland A’s, and has been a regular on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball telecasts for 20 years. He will be inducted at the historic Cooperstown museum during the Baseball Hall of Fame’s induction ceremonies in July. John Miller & CSM broadcasting students As a broadcast veteran of 30 years Miller has received numerous awards, including the National Sportscaster of the Year from the National Sportscasters Association in 1998 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the National Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association of America. As described by the San Francisco Giants website, he is “noted for his eloquent game description, golden voice and marvelous sense of humor.” When Miller broadcasts games that include former CSM baseball players he often mentions CSM, the athletic program and his connection to the college. As a student at CSM in the late 1960’s, Miller was a broadcasting major who learned his craft by hosting a classical music program as well as announcing the college’s sports events on KCSM‐FM.
