RURAL GOVERNORATE: WHOLE OF PROTECTION SECTOR RESPONSE (as of 31 May 2016)

Summary information of protection response  612,900 Interventions from Jan to May with 404,900 in May  Top three types of interventions in 2016: Direct risk education for explosive hazards, Structured Child Protection & PSS activities and Awareness raising sessions on child protection concerns  34 Sub-districts were reached in 2016, though only 27 were targeted in the HRP, 14 of them reported for the first time in May. Hajar Aswad sub-district which was targeted in the HRP has not yet been reached in 2016.  29 organizations are implementing activities on ground and 20 are reporting directly to the sector.

Highlights  Jaramana, Qudisya and sub-districts have the most number of interventions.  14 new sub-districts were reported, for the first time in 2016, receiving risk education for Unexploded ordinances  PSS awareness sessions in Jaramana and Establishment of complaint mechanisms in Qatana are new activities reported in May alongwith Child protection communication/ social mobilization campaign in both Jaramana and Qudisya.

Response in Besieged locations and HTR area  10 out of 13 Besieged locations in the Governorate have been reached in 2016, with nine in May, four for the first time in the year.  33 out of 108 communities in HTR area have been reached, 30 of them in May, with 19, reported for the first time Key context information in 2016.
