WALKER We’Re Winning 6 – THE DERRICK. / The News-Herald Wednesday, January 13, 2016 QUESTIONS & ATTITUDE Compelling questions... and maybe a few actual answers Will the Rolex 24 get the racin’ blood flowing? It does sorta shake the slumber for NASCAR fans. For those who think racing is nothing but left-hand turns, the Rolex doesn’t fully satisfy their desire to see ROAD TO DAYTONA SPEEDWEEKS Jimmie, Kyle, Matt and maybe even Kurt, but like the first sighting of tinsel on store shelves in early November, it signi- fies a certain season is approaching. McMurray, Larson will Why do you like Daytona's road course so much? Because in combination with the high- banked tri-oval, it puts high demand on team up at Rolex 24 run everyone from the driver to engineers, who have to compromise on car setup. And I’ll say it again: In my perfect world, when NASCAR comes back here in July, they’d run the road course. Did Tony Stewart call out Brian France? It reads that way in print, but some- times something is lost in translation. In a radio interview last week, he sug- gested Brian should be more visible to drivers — “He shows up at the drivers’ meeting and you never see him after that,” Stewart said. Does Tony have a point? Not really. Brian isn’t Big Bill France or Bill Jr., two men who worked without all the layers of administration you have today. Brian’s focus has always seemed to be the business and marketing end, This is the race car Ganassi Racing NASCAR drivers Jamie McMurray and Kyle Larson will be wheeling this weekend. With extensive clean-up, the race would not see a green lap until the restart on Lap 12. By Lap 27 Kimball had advanced three spots up to 11th until pitting for the No. 83’s first stop of the race on Lap 37. McMurray, driving the Cessna Patriotic Chevrolet SS, overcame an early tire issue to narrowly miss the top-10 with an 11th-place finish in the Toyota/SaveMart 350. McMurray entered the weekend as the two-time defending pole winner for the race and hoped to be just the second driver to pull-off the hat-trick of three consecutive poles at Sonoma Raceway (Ricky Rudd won three in a row 1990-1992). Unfortunately McMurray was unable to transfer into the second round of qualifying on Saturday afternoon and settled for an 18th-place qualifying result. McMurray was able to pick-up positons in the early running before having to pit off sequence on lap 10 for a tire issue. The minor setback put the No. 1 Cessna Patriotic Chevy on a different pit strategy than several of the leaders, but the No. 1 team was able to take advantage of some cautions and close back up on the field. On the race’s final caution, crew chief Matt McCall, gambled on track positon and McMurray restarted second with just seven laps to go.

  • Mouser and Molex-Sponsored Driver Bourdais Scores Second Consecutive Fast 9 Start at Legendary Indy 500
US Headquarters 1000 N. Main Street, Mansfield, TX 76063, USA (817) 804-3800 Main www.mouser.com For Immediate Release Mouser and Molex-Sponsored Driver Bourdais Scores Second Consecutive Fast 9 Start at Legendary Indy 500 May 23, 2019 – Mouser Electronics, Inc. will be rooting for Sebastien Bourdais and the Dale Coyne Racing with Vasser-Sullivan team as they put their grit and bold strategy to the test at the 103rd running of the famed Indianapolis 500 on May 26. In qualifications, Bourdais pushed the Mouser-sponsored No. 18 car to earn a spot in the Fast Nine shootout, where he averaged 228.621 miles per hour to move up to a seventh-position start at Sunday’s race. Mouser is proud to again team up with valued supplier Molex to sponsor Bourdais and the Dale Coyne Racing with Vasser-Sullivan team for the 2019 NTT IndyCar Series. The Mouser- and Molex-sponsored car won the Indianapolis 500 in 2013, with Tony Kanaan behind the wheel. The global electronic component distributor first sponsored IndyCar racing in 2011 as an inventive way to communicate its performance-driven business model and promote the newest technologies. Behind the wheel of the Mouser- and Molex-sponsored No. 18 car, Bourdais has two top-five finishes in just five races so far this season, earning him the No. 8 spot on the points standings. The four-time Indy CART champion is just 21 points out of the top five, and Indy 500’s double points system could be just the boost he needs. After the Indianapolis 500, the series travels to Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix doubleheader on June 1 and 2, DXC Technology 600 at Texas Motor Speedway on June 8, plus seven more races before ending the season at the Grand Prix of Monterey on September 22.
