Kids Etc YMC 2020 Summer Dance Intensive August 17-21 Kids Etc YMC 2020 Summer Dance Intensive August 17-21 Our KEYMC Summer Dance Intensive is an opportunity for dancers to take classes in all disciplines with our faculty, as well as some exciting guest instructors!!! Please note that it is expected that all KEYMC competitive dancers will attend our Summer Dance Intensive! Guest Instructors Cora Kozaris Dancer, Choreographer, Creator and Mentor. Cora is deeply passionate about sharing her knowledge of dance with students. Her choreography includes CTV’s NYE Bash, Mac’s Viva Glam, YTV’s The Next Star and Nick Cannon’s Take Action. Her classes will leave you feeling motivated, inspired and challenged with a unique integration of styles. Her contemporary classes will push you beyond your comfort zone, open your mind, and expand your horizon. Mindy Conto Mindy Conto, a native of North Bay, Ontario, is an accomplished performer, instructor and choreographer who brings passion, creativity and inspiration to dancers across Canada. Mindy's talent and professionalism has taken her all over the world, and she has had the opportunity to dance with some of the world's most popular artists. Mindy has danced back up at the MMVAs for Hedley, PSY, Kardinal Offishall Featuring Akon, Hillary Duff and Bow Wow. Her extensive list of performances include appearances with Destiny’s Child, Aaron Carter, Shawn Desman, Carly Rae Jepsen, Fefe Dobson, Aleesia, Shiloh, Eva Avila, Suzie McNell, Dave Armstrong, Redroche featuring H boogie, Kreesha Turner and Neil Young (World Tour). Mindy appeared in the feature film "Honey", starring Jessica Alba. Mindy knows that perseverance, dedication and hard work are the key to achieving your goals, and shares her knowledge with her students to foster their love of dance! Laurie Cahoon-Alston Originally from Edmonton, Laurie’s career in dance has taken her around the world as a performer, adjudicator, award-winning choreographer, convention teacher, and instructor. She has been adjudicating events across Canada and the USA for the past 19 years. She has trained at such renowned schools as Randolph’s and Metro Movement in Toronto, The Banff School of Fine Arts, Broadway Dance Center (N.Y. and Tokyo) and EDGE, LA. She holds her Advanced II certificate with the Royal Academy of Dance and performed professionally with Ballet North. Performances with Ballet North included a tour of Mainland China as a Principal dancer. Laurie also worked at length as a lead singer and dancer in Japan at Tokyo Disneyland, playing such fun-loving characters as Belle, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty. She has also enjoyed working in the Cruise-ship industry. Industrial credits include Calvin Klein, Lancome, Tommy Hilfiger, the grand opening of Casino Niagara, and Club Firestone. Live performances and TV credits include Berenstein Bears Christmas Show with Paramount Pictures, Legends Alive, Chiropractic Association of Alberta, and Cool FM Radio. She appeared as a guest singer on Day By Day and was co-choreographer of Dean Gunnarson's Halloween special. Recently she had the pleasure of being choreographer and dancer in a commercial and advertisement for the Physiotherapy Association of Alberta, called "Born to Move" which can be found on YouTube. A great honor was being invited to audition for Cirque du Soleil and be added to their bank of potential performers. Laurie has taught dance in different cities and capacities for 22 years and is currently teaching at the Edmonton School of Ballet in the Vimy daytime professional program. She has recently become acrobatic arts certified. Many of Laurie’s past students are enjoying careers in dance and she couldn’t be happier to see them share their love of the arts. She truly enjoys meeting and teaching young dancers who continue to inspire her with their determination and love of dance. For over a decade, the CPCC has represented copyright holders before the Copyright Board of Canada. The Board establishes the levies that may be collected after trial-like hearings where experts, representing music rights holders and organizations that represent consumers and businesses that sell leviable blank media, present evidence and are cross-examined. The private copying levy has been an important part of the Canadian copyright regime since 1999, when the first private copying tariff was certified by the Copyright Board, following amendments made to the Copyright Act (the “Act”) in 1997 to allow for a levy to be placed on blank audio recording media.     Doris Baltruschat THE NEW MEDIA GEOGRAPHY OF GLOBAL AND LOCAL PRODUCTION NETWORKS Abstract This article highlights the networked collaborations, across non-traditional lines, between producers, broadcasters, digital content developers and telecommunications providers for the development of content across multiple platforms. Through using global production technologies such as co-production and formatting, they are able to localise program narratives with the participation of audiences, online communities, and media events — all of which increase the value of the overall program package for the international market. Global film and television programs are based on production ecologies that interconnect vast networks of producers, broadcasters and digital content developers. These partnerships include collaborations on multi-platform media to stem the growing ‘audience coup’ emanating from file-sharing sites and to exploit social networking aspects that surround popular television programs. In particular, professional media producers take advantage of the reciprocal relationship between actual and virtual communities that coalesce around television shows in the form of real live media events, program participation, public display, online chat rooms and blogs. While these immersive environments extend a global media product’s reach into specific local contexts, they also provide the blueprint for its successful adaptation in different markets around the world. This article explores the intersection between professional media practices and active public engagement with television programs: the dichotomy of media localisation and globalisation is at the core of the investigation. Public involvement in television programs runs the gamut of attending open auditions and participating in television programs to creating a plethora of user-generated content. These activities add value to programs because locally acquired expertise becomes part of a production matrix that is reapplied to the development of new media products.

    BOB EZRIN en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Ezrin The phrase “super-producer” is often used when discussing Bob Ezrin – and with good reason. After all, the Toronto native has been behind the boards of many classic albums, among them Alice Cooper’s Billion Dollar Babies, KISS’ Destroyer, and Pink Floyd’s The Wall. He has also done much to help preserve music education in Canada in the face of devastating government funding cuts. Bob Ezrin was born March 25, 1949, into a musical Toronto family in which his mother played piano and his father, bass. Ezrin’s grandfather, a musical theatre amateur, taught him to dance to Al Jolson’s “Me and My Shadow” when Ezrin was just two. Ezrin went on to learn classical piano at Toronto’s Royal Conservatory of Music and spent off-hours as a teen taking in the likes of Joni Mitchell at his uncle’s music club, The Penny Farthing in the mid-‘60s. At age 19 he was taken under the wing of The Guess Who producer Jack Richardson who sent him to fellow producer Phil Ramone’s Eastman School of Music “boot camp” in Rochester, New York. Upon his return, Richardson sent Ezrin to New York to check out shock rocker Alice Cooper, whose manager Shep Gordon was insistent Richardson produce them. Ezrin was blown away by Cooper’s performance at Max’s Kansas City and ended up co-producing the band’s 1971 album Love It to Death with the initially reluctant Richardson. Ezrin would go on to work with Cooper multiple times, including on his most recent record, 2011’s Welcome 2 My Nightmare.

    THE MUSIC DISTRIBUTION INDUSTRY IN CANADA 2006 BY LARRY LEBLANC FEB. 2006 This report has been prepared by Larry LeBlanc for the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB). The purpose of this document is to provide a profile of the English and French-language components of distribution of the Canadian-owned label and artist sector as well as Canadian artists signed or distributed by multinationals in Canada. The report specifically discusses changes in the music distribution sector in Canada since 1998. As well, such newly emerging factors as the rise of widespread Internet-based downloading; the rise of music subscription services; and the use of ringtones, ringtunes and podcasting in affecting music sales are also discussed. The report indicates that Canadian music retail has become more consolidated and more selective with product choices. Major music retailers carry a different product mix today than a decade ago. There are fewer music CDs, and more film-related DVD and computer game product. Although radio remains a critical vehicle for the Canadian record industry, labels and retailers cite a waning impact of the medium on overall sales. The study is based on a review of existing documentation, secondary research as well as analysis and findings drawn from 11 interviews conducted by Larry LeBlanc, as the principal source of primary research. Music OVERVIEW Canada's small market size, and a sizable support infrastructure is enabling the domestic industry to develop distinct acts for audiences home and abroad. In the past three years, global markets have embraced a new wave of formidable Canadian English-language rock acts including: Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, Death From Above 1979, Feist, Stars, the Dears, Alexisonfire, Metric, Bedouin Soundclash, and Hot Hot Heat; as well as such French-language acts as Corneille, and Lynda Lemay.
