BOSTON MANAGER ALEX CORA:

On the pitching tonight:

“You know, a 3-2 slider to Zunino, he hit it out of the ball park, and then Span got the 2-2 breaking ball and put a good swing on it. They’ve been good, just nights like this are going to happen. You’ve got to tip your cap to them. They’ve been like that the whole season, close games and coming back. I think the swing by Zunino changed the game right there.”

On if he’s seen enough of Span this year:

“That’s his second to the same spot. I feel like, with him, you have to attack him. You look at his numbers, his batting average, and then you see his on-base percentage. He keeps working the count. He’s a veteran guy. If you’re ahead, you have to bury him, and we didn’t. We went up on the previous pitch. There’s good up, kind of like a competitive pitch, but that one out of the hand wasn’t a good pitch. He was probably sitting breaking ball after that. He knows Barnes. He knows he’s going to go to a breaking ball, and he stayed back and put a good swing on it.”
