Bay Area Transit

The Department of Physics is unable to offer dedicated transportation to and from Bay Area airports. However, there are several means of transportation available. Please see below for a few options. We have included the approximate time it will take you to get to your destination, and the cost associated. Please note that these are rough estimates and may vary depending on the time of day and traffic fluctuations. Keep in mind that the cost of ground transportation is an allowable reimbursement that you may include as part of your final reimbursement allocation.

After traveling, please make sure to save your itemized receipts to submit for reimbursement. ------Bay Area Transit Map: https://tinyurl.com/bayareatransitmap

Three major airports serve the Bay Area, including San Francisco International (SFO), San Jose Mineta International (SJC), and Oakland International (OAK). We suggest comparing fares to all three airports, as there can be significant differences, even for the same airline. Stanford is roughly equidistant from the San Francisco and San Jose airports. Although San Francisco is the largest of the three area airports and offers the most airlines and flights, some visitors find that San Jose’s smaller size makes it a somewhat more convenient alternative, especially for domestic flights.
