LATE INNING WORK--The Royals have dominated the final frames of each game in this 2015 postseason, outscoring the opposition by a 44-11 count from the seventh inning on...Kansas City has been outscored 53-39 through the first six innings of these 16 October tilts, but have turned the tables for the final third of the game and extra innings, hitting .333 (60-for-180) with a .401 team on-base pct. and .500 slugging pct. CONSISTENCY IS A GOOD THING--Since the opening game of the ALDS vs. Houston, manager Ned Yost has inked in the same eight position players into the lineup with Eric Hosmer (1B), Ben Zobrist (2B), Alcides Escobar (SS), Mike Moustakas (3B), Alex Gordon (LF), Lorenzo Cain (CF), Alex Rios (RF) and Salvador Perez (C)... according to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Royals have established a Major League postseason record for consistency, eclipsing the previous mark of 12 straight games with the same alignment by the 2005 Chicago White Sox...the KC batting order has also been exact save for the games played here in New York without Kendrys Morales as the DH. ZO DOUBLING DOWN--With his eighth double of this postseason, Ben Zobrist has tied the Major League postseason record for two-base hits with eight...his sixth inning double last night matched the total of both David Freese and Albert Pujols for the Cardinals in the 2011 fall season that was capped with a World Series crown over Texas. ESKY ESTABLISHES TEAM RECORD--Alcides Escobar, the Most Valuable Player of the American League Championship series, has continued to roll in the World Series by hitting safely in all four games to extend his postseason hitting streak to 14 games, eclipsing Lorenzo Cain’s team record established last October and had snapped in Game #5 of this year’s ALCS...Esky has hit at a .367 clip (22-for-60) with a .385 on-base pct. and .567 slugging pct...when leading off an inning through the 15 games of this postseason, Alcides has batted .480 (12-for-25) with two doubles, two triples and a home run...he entered this October with a career regular season batting average of .262, but he’s turned it up a notch in postseason play as evidenced by his career .318 average in the postseason (41-for-129) with a .333 on-base pct... Escobar’s 41 career postseason hits are second most in franchise history and just four behind Hall-of-Famer George Brett (45) and his 22 this year are a club record... Pablo Sandoval holds the all-time record with 26 last year...Esky’s 22 hits have tied Derek Jeter’s 22 in 1996, 2003 and 2009 for most by a shortstop. NED AMONG POSTSEASON ELITE--Ned Yost is now 10-5 through this postseason and has a career 21-9 mark at the helm over the last two years, his first as a postseason manager...his 21 wins are now tied for 20th all-time with the likes of Joe Girardi, Mike Matheny, Dick Williams and Mike Scioscia...Yost’s .700 postseason winning pct. is first among all active managers and tied with Chuck Tanner for eighth all-time, but he’s first among all managers who have skippered at least 20 postseason games.
