NOVEMBER BALL--Last night was Kansas City’s first-ever performance on Halloween night and this evening’s game will be the first Major League game to occur in November since the finished up a World Series crown over the Rangers on November 1, 2010 with a 3-1 win in Arlington. RAISING CAIN ON THE BASES--Lorenzo Cain was 1-for-3 with a huge eighth inning walk last night to extend his club record streak to 19 consecutive postseason games in which he’s reached base safely dating back to Game #4 of last year’s World Series...he has eclipsed the previous mark of 16 set by (1977-80)... holds the all-time postseason record by reaching in 31 straight games (2011-13)...LoCain has a .372 on-base pct. during this 19-game streak, going 20-for-73 at the plate with 12 walks. WADING THROUGH THE OPPOSITION--Wade Davis contributed his second 2.0-inning save with last night’s performance and has upped his postseason scoreless streak to 19.2 consecutive innings dating back to last year, posting a 3-0 mark and going 4-for-4 in save situations...in the last two postseasons, Wade Davis has allowed only one earned run in 24.0 total relief innings for a 0.38 ERA...he has held the opposition to a .149 average (10-for-67) in that current scoreless stretch, while fanning 31 for a 11.63 strikeout per 9-inning ratio...after earning 17 saves during the regular season, Davis has finished off six of KC’s 10 wins during this postseason while getting the win in the ALCS finale vs. Toronto...coupled with his 2015 regular season finish, Davis has allowed one earned run in his last 29.1 innings for a 0.31 ERA, while fanning 40 in that span...he went 8-1 with 17 rescues and a 0.95 ERA during the regular season, the eight wins were more than 15 starters this year who made at least 25 starts...in regular season play dating back to September 4, 2013, when Wade made the full-time return to the bullpen, he has posted a Major League best 19-4 record among relievers and 0.96 ERA, allowing only 16 earned runs in 149.1 innings, while fanning 194 hitters for an 11.69 strikeouts per 9-inning ratio. SALVY SWINGING IT--Salvador Perez had his first 3-hit game of this postseason last night and has now hit safely in nine of 11 career World Series games at a .366 clip (15-for-41) with three doubles, a home run, five RBI and six runs scored...he is the first player in franchise history to collect three hits in multiple World Series games (also Game #4 in 2014). ‘SERIES’ CONTINUES IN 2016--The last team the Royals see in the 2015 season will also be the first squad Kansas City battles to open the 2016 campaign, as the Mets will kick off next year with a 2-game stop in ...New York will be KC’s home opener on Monday, April 4 and then following an off day, the 2-game set will conclude on Wednesday, April 6...the Royals will return to Citi Field for a 2-game “road trip” on June 21-22. THE LAND OF HOZ--Kansas City Eric Hosmer didn’t get credit for an RBI, but his ability to put a ball in play led to the error that opened up the 3-run game-winning rally in the eighth inning...he has driven in 16 runs during this postseason to pull away with the club record he initially set with 12 last year... the all-time Major League postseason RBI record is 21 by David Freese during the Cardinals’ 2011 run...Hosmer has also set Kansas City’s all-time RBI record for postseason play with 28, five more than Royals’ Hall of Famer George Brett knocked in over 43 career postseason games. FALL BALL SUCCESS AT ‘THE K’--The goal is to end the 2015 World Series tonight, but should the Royals return home they will be riding a 7-game winning streak in Kauffman Stadium...Kansas City has won 15 of its last 18 postseason games contested in ‘The K’...dating back to 1985, the Royals ended the World Series with two consecutive home wins over St. Louis and then KC was 6-2 here last year, going 1-0 vs. Oakland and and then 2-0 over the Orioles before a 2-2 split of the four World Series home games with San Francisco...the Royals opened this year’s postseason with a 2-1 mark here vs. the Astros in the ALDS and then won all three home games vs. Toronto in the ALCS...Kansas City had the third best home record in the American League at 51-30. OFFENSE UP IN 2015 POSTSEASON--The Royals have established a club postseason record for runs scored with 83 through the first 15 games, shattering the mark of 69 plated in 15 contests last October. KC DIGS THE LONG BALL--The Royals have gone three straight games without a home run for the first time in the 2015 postseason...Alcides Escobar’s game- opening inside-the-park home runs to open the World Series on Tuesday night was the 16th this year for the Royals, already breaking the club’s postseason record for home runs that was initially set with 11 in nine games in 1980 and then matched in 15 games last year...the 2015 Royals hit 139 home runs during the regular season, a 44-homer improvement over the 95 hit during the 2014 campaign. BACK-TO-BACK A.L. CHAMPS--For the first time in franchise history, the Royals are appearing in the World Series in consecutive seasons, winning the club’s fourth American League crown on October 23 with a 4-3 nailbiter over the , taking the best-of-seven series, 4-2...Kansas City is the first American League club to win back-to-back crowns since the 2010-11 , and the third since 2000, as the Yankees won the last two of four straight A.L. titles after the turn of the century. TWO OUT OFFENSE--Kansas City finished the regular season with a big league best .277 batting average with two outs, 34 points higher than the league average (.243)...KC also led the big leagues with a .278 average with two down and runners in scoring position, plating 301 two-out runs, third most in the Majors....in 2014, Kansas City hit just .236 in two-out situations with 219 total runs...the Royals had three of the top eight individual two-out hitters in the A.L. with Lorenzo Cain (.372) leading the league, followed by Kendrys Morales (.335) in fourth and Eric Hosmer (.303), who was eighth...Morales, who finished sixth in the A.L. in overall RBI (106) drove exactly half of those in with two outs with an American League-leading 53 while shattering ’s (2000) previous club record of 46. RECORD SETTING SKIPPER--Manager Ned Yost, who became the winningest manager in franchise history earlier this year, finished this regular season with a career mark just a game under .500 all-time as KC’s skipper (468-469)...he took on the role on May 13, 2010, and in his first 2 1/2 seasons saw his club play 55 games under .500 at 198-253...since the start of 2013, Ned’s troops have gone 270-216 for a .556 winning pct., which is the best record in the American League (Baltimore next at 262-224), and the fourth-most wins in the Majors trailing only St. Louis (287), Pittsburgh (280) and the Dodgers (278) in that span...Ned passed Royals’ Hall of Famer as the winningest skipper in team annals when he captured win #411 on June 18 vs. the Brewers...Ned’s 925 career wins, which include 457 with Milwaukee, rank sixth among active managers and 66th all-time.
