During the University of 's Family Weekend (October 8-10), we're offering a free 45-minute guided tour of the Student Success District [links to: https://uaatwork.arizona.edu/lqp/5-things-know-about-student-success-district], which connects the renovated Main and Albert B. Weaver Science-Engineering Libraries, the new Bartlett Academic Success Center, and the Gymnasium to improve the student experience. Visit the renovated and new buildings to learn about the District’s centralized services, resources, and programs that support the University’s highest priority: student success. The festival has been held annually in Downtown Tucson, Arizona since 1974. It was founded by folklorist and anthropologist Dr. James “Big Jim” Griffith, who in 2011 was honored by the National Endowment for the Arts with a prestigious recognition as a “National Heritage” treasure. TMY is the signature annual event of the Southwest Folklife Alliance (SFA), an affiliate non-profit organization of the University of Arizona, housed within the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, and the designated Folk Arts Partner of the Arizona Commission on the Arts with the support of the National Endowment of the Arts. SFA’s mission is to build more equitable and vibrant communities by celebrating the everyday expressions of culture, heritage and diversity in the Greater Southwest. Its work helps support, honor, and promote the traditional arts and heritage practices of the region and that compliment the festival year-round.

TMY is building a community that respects traditions, culture, diversity and honors the land and environment (“sense of place”) unique to the desert borderlands. We have several ongoing partnerships with other organizations in our region dedicated to fostering compassion, integrity, and stewardship of the land and our Southwestern cultural ways. TMY has had a long history of partnership and shared goals with the University of Arizona.

Bring the entire family to Bear Down Friday in Main Gate Square to help UA celebrate Family Weekend. Main Gate Square features many great options for local food and drinks! Bear Down Fridays is a free community event that brings together thousands of UA students, alumni, fans and Tucsonans for a pep rally on the Friday night before every home football game. Bring your Wildcat pride and show your colors as we cheer on Arizona Football ahead of their Family Weekend Football game hosting the UCLA Bruins.

The Pep Rally begins at 6 PM starring the Pride of Arizona Marching Band, UA Poms, Twirlers and Guard, Wilbur and Wilma, special guest speakers, and UA Cheer located on Tyndall Avenue south of University Boulevard.

Event Name: Flu Shot Clinic for all UA Students

Flu shots will be administered by Campus Health Staff to UA students only. They need to show their student ID and insurance card if they have a billable insurance. We bill United Healthcare, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, and Aetna. If students do not have a billable insurance they can bursar the $35 cost of the flu shot.

Arizona Repertory Theatre (ART) serves as the public laboratory and showcase for the School’s professional training programs. Students function as young professionals in a setting where the rules and discipline of the contemporary theatre are observed.
