Greg Gumbel CBS Sports Greg Gumbel’s standout work in the world of sports broadcasting has made his face, name and voice as familiar as any in the industry. Throughout 40+ years in the business, Gumbel has become one of the most outstanding and best known announcers in sports television. He has covered everything from Major League Baseball to the NBA to the NFL, the Men’s NCAA Championship Tournament, the Summer and Winter Olympic games, World Figure Skating Championships and the Daytona 500 to name a few. In the fall, he calls exciting NFL play-by-play action across the country on CBS, with his broadcast partner, Trent Green. Prior to returning to the booth in 2006, Gumbel successfully completed his second season as the host of the CBS' Emmy award winning show “The NFL Today.” He formerly hosted “The NFL Today” on CBS from 1990-93 and “The NFL on NBC.” Gumbel was also the lead play-by-play announcer for CBS Sports’ coverage of the National Football League from 1998 to 2003. In that capacity, he called the thrilling action at Super Bowl XXXVIII in Houston and Super Bowl XXXV in Tampa. He is the first network broadcaster to both call play-by-play and host the Super Bowl. He hosted Super Bowl XXVI in Minneapolis, Super Bowl XXX in Tempe and Super Bowl XXXII in San Diego. When the NFL season winds down, Greg is host of one of the premiere events in all of sports, The NCAA Men’s College Basketball Tournament. He has been the host of March Madness since 1998. During the height of March Madness, Greg spends hours in the studio with his colleagues, analysts Clark Kellogg, Seth Davis, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley, providing CBS viewers with exciting highlights and coverage on the Road to The Final Four. Greg is a 3-time Emmy award winner, and the 2007 Honoree of the prestigious Pat Summerall award for his outstanding work in broadcasting. He is a member of the National Board of Advisors for The March of Dimes and is honored to have become a member of the St. Jude Children’s Hospital Sports Council. Greg is also a member of the Board of Regents at his alma mater, Loras College, in Dubuque, Iowa. .

One of the most popular and successful sports of today’s culture is American football. This sport has grown into a worldwide phenomenon, and like the video game industry, has become a multi-billion entity. It was only a matter of time until game developers teamed up with the National Football League (NFL) to bring magnificent sport to video game players across the globe. There are few, if any, game genres that are as popular as sports games. With the ever-increasing popularity of the NFL, it was inevitable that football games would become one of the most lucrative of the sports game genre. With all of the companies making football games for consoles and PCs during the late 1980s and 1990s, there is one particular company that clearly stood and remains above the rest, Electronic Arts. EA Sports, the sports division of Electronic Arts, revolutionized not only the football sports games but also the entire sports game genre itself. Fortunato KEYWORDS: ABSTRACT Fantasy Sports, NFL, Television Ratings An estimated 30 million people participate in fantasy football leagues, yet little academic research has been conducted on this topic. While there are many factors that can contribute to the television rating of a sports event, this study asks if fantasy football participation can serve as an additional motivating factor for fans to watch National Football League (NFL) games on television. Iv/If 7 Abstract The purpose of this investigation was to present a statistical model to help rank top National Basketball Association (NBA) players of all time. As the sport of basketball evolves, the debate on who is the greatest player of all-time in the NBA never seems to reach consensus. This ongoing debate can sometimes become emotional and personal, leading to arguments and in extreme cases resulting in violence and subsequent arrest. Creating a statistical model to rank players may also help coaches determine important variables for player development and aid in future approaches to the game via key data-driven performance indicators. However, computing this type of model is extremely difficult due to the many individual player statistics and achievements to consider, as well as the impact of changes to the game over time on individual player performance analysis. This study used linear regression to create an accurate model for the top 150 player rankings. The variables computed included: points per game, rebounds per game, assists per game, win shares per 48 minutes, and number ofNBA championships won. The results revealed that points per game, rebounds per game, assists per game, and NBA championships were all necessary for an accurate model and win shares per 48 minutes were not significant.
