Flint Hills Resources And Koch Pipeline Company To Host Annual Banquet Honoring Outstanding Scholars

CORPUS CHRISTI, – Flint Hills Resources, LLC and Koch Pipeline Company, L.P. honored the academic achievements of 33 South Texas high school seniors by presenting each with a $1,500 scholarship at the Outstanding Scholar Banquet held on June 4 at the Corpus Christi Town Club.

“Flint Hills Resources is honored to present these well-deserving students with scholarships so they can continue their education,” said Valerie Pompa, vice president for Flint Hills Resources. “We are committed to helping our youth become exposed to careers involving science, technology, engineering or mathematics.”

“It is always an honor to recognize the accomplishments of our youth here in South Texas,” said Larry Van Horn, president for Koch Pipeline Company. “These students have worked hard and will one day be a part of the workforce, and perhaps even an employee of a Koch company.”

Since 1995, Flint Hills Resources has recognized more than 600 students from more than 40 South Texas schools for their academic and athletic achievements through commercial spots airing on local television and radio stations. This year, Flint Hills Resources and Koch Pipeline partnered to advance the program from a recognition program to a scholarship program. Scholarship recipients were selected based on their academic record, essay on the concept of entrepreneurship, and a nomination from their school. Recipients must also plan to pursue a career in a STEM field.

Congratulations to this year’s honorees:
