I consider it an honor to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich and storied history in academics, athletics and the fine arts. The privilege of working with such a talented and dedicated fac- ulty and staff, a tremendous student body, and a supportive network of parents and community members will only help push Milton High towards new heights. As we move into the 2016-17 school year, we expect that each of you will be instrumental in helping MHS continue its rich tradition of academic and athletic excellence. The teachers, staff and administration at Milton High School are committed to providing high quality education along with extra-curricular opportunities that will meet the needs and interests of all the wonderful and talented students here on campus. As your principal, I challenge each and every one of you to take full advantage of all that is offered here at MHS so that you can make your high school life successful, enjoyable, and most importantly, meaningful. It is my sincere belief that every student that sets foot on this campus has the ability and the potential to accomplish great things! Starting with the first days of school, I challenge each of you to begin developing, displaying and fine tuning your character traits and Panther Pride that will serve you well and help lay the foundation for your future successes. Please take the time to review this handbook carefully. It contains important information that will help guide you through the expectations we have for you as a Milton High student. It also provides resources for your successful naviga- tion of campus policies and procedures. I also want to remind you that your teachers, counselors, and administrators are available to provide assistance. Your questions and concerns are always welcome. As you work through your years at MHS, I challenge each of you to set goals and standards that will be above those set by most high school students. Your time at MHS is foundational to your future success, and we are confident about the positive impact each of our students will make in the world. I am excited about the future of Milton High School, and I look forward to the challenges of tomorrow. Together we will continue to push forward and find new ways to achieve academic greatness, further instill and inspire Panther Pride and traditions, and create lasting high school memories. Welcome back and always remember…ONCE A PANTHER, ALWAYS A PANTHER! Sincerely, Timothy W. Short Timothy W. Short Principal 132 5 Hallway Pass Date Time in/out Destination Teacher MHS Mission Statement Our mission is to provide all students with quality instruction while encouraging them to prepare for their careers, to share responsibilities, to respect all people, and to view education as a lifelong process 6 131 Hallway Pass WELCOME FROM THE STUDENT BODY PRESIDENT Date Time in/out Destination Teacher Dear fellow Panthers, Before I begin, let me tell you how honored I am to serve as your 2016-2017 Student Body President. I’ve had the privilege of learning how to effectively make positive change on our beautiful campus these past 3 years and I’m ready to put this skillset to work. I am wholeheartedly convinced that MHS is the best school in Santa Rosa county. Our deep traditions, from going all out for homecoming to graduating in the Haywood-Hannah Panther Sta- dium, are what make us unique. Our traditions let us leverage our esteemed past while jumping forward into the future. No other school offers the same caliber of academic and extracurric- ular activities, made possible by our dedicated staff, teachers, and administrators. With this in mind, I challenge you to get in- volved like you never have before. There numerous clubs that offer fun, service and academic opportunities. That being said, if you don’t find a club you like, start one! Find something you’re passionate about and run with it. Go forward this year with 3 things: passion, integrity, and selflessness. With these 3 characteristics you can achieve any- thing. And just as inscribed above the original Milton High en- trance on Canal Street – “Sit Lux”- let your light shine this year and take hold of your future with the help of Milton High be- cause we all know that you’re “Once a Panther, ALWAYS a Panther!” Respectfully serving, Mallory Bramel 130 7 GENERAL SCHOOL INFORMATION rd Campus Policies: Progress Report 3 9 weeks February 10, 2017 Hours Period Subject Grade/Comment Teacher’s The Milton High School campus is open and students shall be supervised from Initial 8:45 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. Parents are advised that the school will not be re- 1 sponsible for students who are on school premises other than these times.
