There is no driver’s cushion but it would have matched the beige corded back rest, and the outside of the round back is in a wicker-effect covering. On a yellow MARKET CART built by G. Hopkins of New Street, Ledbury, circa undercarriage with brown lining, 14-spoke Warner wheels with brass 1900 to suit up to 15 hh; finished in yellow and green with green hub caps and transverse and semi-elliptic springs. There are air vents lining. Has an adjustable seat with an unusual rein clamp on the front immediately under the driver’s seat, and above the rear door, on dash. On 16-spoke Warner wheels with Dennett springs with which is painted a bull’s head and sign written ‘Finest Beef, Quality stamped brass hubs. A successful show vehicle during the Butcher, Est. 1890’. With metal fitting, steps and fixed shafts 25 FOUR-WHEEL DOG CART to suit 14 to 15.2; a smart vehicle finished in maroon and black with black upholstered back to back seating with space between for luggage etc. There is space beneath to carry dogs, with ventilation slats on the sides and a drop-down tail board supported by chains. 23 DROP-WELL GIG by Symes of Taunton, to fit 12.2 to 14 hh; a very smart looking vehicle rebuilt by Crofords of Ashford a few years ago and not used since. Painted black on yellow 14-spoke Warner wheels lined in black, Dennet springs and brass hub caps. Buttoned upholstered seating in beige Melton cloth with an occasional child’s seat, set back to provide additional protection from the wheels. Fitted with a high curved dash board, lamp brackets and mud guards

26 FOUR-WHEEL DOG CART by Morgan & Co of London to suit 12.2 to 13.3 hh single or pair. An exquisite vehicle painted dark blue and golden yellow with back to back seating upholstered in beige Melton cloth, with a rear drop-down tailboard. On 12/14-spoke English pattern wheels painted yellow with black lines, brass hub caps and elliptic springs. Fitted with a handbrake and lamp brackets, and comes with shafts, swingletree and a pole. This vehicle has not been made with standard off-the-shelf parts, but with everything accurately scaled down from a full-sized Dog Cart. The seller remarks that this is the equivalent of a motorised 24 scaled-down Ferrari that a wealthy parent might buy a youngster today! SHOW GIG by Offord of London to suit 14 hh approx., a sound vehicle painted dark blue. On 16-spoke Warner wheels with brass hubs stamped with the maker’s name. Trace hooks to draw bars and swingletree, and chains to axle. This vehicle was last used 30-40 years ago and been barn stored ever since

27 SHOWMAN’S BURTON WAGON thought to have been made by Goodwith of Norwich, circa 1928; previously in the same family for 60 years, the current vendors acquired the Wagon in 2016 and have since fully restored it to its current condition. The body is painted dark red and cream on a cream undercarriage with red lines. On 44ins/48ins wheels with axles made by W. Stroud & Co., of Gloucester, March 1897. The roof is fitted with a mollicroft and chimney, shutters to the windows and a pan box. The interior is finished in natural varnished wood and has a Queenie stove. Fitted with a screw brake, and comes with steps and shafts. Approx. measurements: 11ft long x 6ft wide
