ABOUT Capital City Theatre Conservatory (CCTC) is an accomplished musical theatre training program, located right in the heart of the Midwest. Our top-level instruction bridges the gap between youth and adult skill sets. Aspiring and professional students take classes to build a professional musical theatre career, refine technique, and find new inspiration. We employ a holistic approach that encompasses the major disciplines of singing, acting, dancing and other stage crafts. We are committed to serving all communities and economic backgrounds with sponsored scholarships for deserving students. Over 250 students have taken a CCTC class, many of whom have graduated from college degree programs and who now have professional careers. Over 30 have gone on to perform in a Capital City Theatre production as professionals. CORE DISCIPLINES PERFORMANCE INTENSIVES • Find Your Light (Advanced & Intermediate) is a musical theatre intensive program designed to make the student a well-rounded performer. • College Prep Course is a 2-day lecture/workshop designed for students interested in auditioning for and continuing their training in college musical theatre programs. • Performing Cabaret (Adult): This six week course with help you learn the techniques to create your own cabaret. DANCE Become a triple threat and learn Broadway level choreography in beginner and intermediate courses from top instructors. TECHNIQUE For a successful musical theatre career, performers need to stand out from the crowd. The Conservatory ofers a full range of classes like these, and more. • Music Theory • Acting Through Song • Monologue Coaching BACKSTAGE ARTS We bring in local experts who ofer real, hands-on experience. They spark a greater interest in the many, essential, behind-the-scenes aspects of a musical theatre career. • Stagecraft Studio is a “behind the scenes” one day workshop focusing on crucial components of a production; such as lighting, sound design, costuming, props, etc. Not everyone longs to be a singer or actor. • Recent Workshops: Costume Design, Sound Design, Stage Management, Hair/Wig/Makeup. • Future Workshops: Lighting Design, Set Construction, Properties, and more. REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE FULL CONSERVATORY PRODUCTION CONSERVATORY Receive on-the-job training that prepares you for the Big Stage! Schedules, rehearsal requirements, tech week, and performances will be in the same format and rigors of a professional, regional production. Work alongside directors, designers, choreographers, and stage managers, who will mentor performing and technical artists through the entire process. Boyle SMART LEADERSHIP ANDREW ABRAMS, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR Andrew has worked Of-Broadway, regionally, and on tour as a professional director, musical director, conductor, composer, and Equity actor; working with the likes of Eartha Kitt, John Davidson, Andrea McCardle, and more. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Music degree from UW-Madison and a Master of Arts, in Musical Theatre, from University of London-Goldsmiths. A graduate of the advanced year of the BMI Musical Theatre Writing Workshop in New York City, he wrote But I’m a Cheerleader, the Musical, which had a sold-out workshop in London at MT Fest UK in February, 2019; as well as a reading in December of 2013, directed by Tony-Award winner Jerry Mitchell. Andrew has also worked as a vocal coach, voice teacher, and Acting through Song coach at NYU, New York Film Academy, AMDA, Mountview Academy (in London), Hofstra University, and privately in New York City and Madison. He is currently on the faculty at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. GAIL BECKER, DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION Born and raised in Chicago, Gail Becker is a seasoned Cabaret performer, vocal coach, actress, and voice over artist now making Madison her home. Gail works independently as a Music Director and Instructor. Her Cabaret engagements have led her to Chicago, New York, and San Francisco. Performing credits encompass a National Tour and numerous productions in Chicago and Madison. Her music directing and instruction credits include: Capital City Theatre Conservatory, Edgewood College, UW Madison Theatre Department, UW Summer Music Clinic, Overture Center’s Jerry Awards, Children’s Theater of Madison Academy, WSMA, Oregon Straw Hat Players, Stoughton Village Players, Blessed Sacrament School, Madison Country Day School,TYA Director for MadCap, and over 20 productions in Chicago. Gail directs Overture Center’s Jerry Ensemble and has a large private voice studio as well. She holds a B.F.A. in Theatre Performance from Miami University.
